UFCanuck
can't see how Mike Gillis did well in this signing...both Jake Muzzin and Brenden Smith signed for less, and both more accomplished then Tanev.

Niklas Jensen
Tanev has played in the NHL since he was 20, he's the more experienced of the 3 while being the youngest.
Onions
A little overpayment I think. 1mil should have been more than fair.
oldnews
whiners gonna whine, but not much to whine about here... now we can move on to spending the other 2.85 million in the cap bank.
Langdon Algur
Good value, wish it was for a longer term though. Glad Tanev is still a Canuck.
dangler696969
should've been about 1.1 or 1.2. Oh well I guess we'll see.
Canada Hockey Place
I was hoping for longer too. But I'm just glad he signed. Canucks are lucky to have found him.

UFCanuck
so what, both Muzzin and Smith have shown better talent and stats than Tanev.
taiwanchik
I'm glad that Tanev is back in the fold but I do concur with others that 1.5 Million at this point is a bit of overpayment given his minimal game experience, lack of offense and lack of physicality. When he came on the scene, I was impressed with his poise much the same way I was when Bieska and Edler first arrived. However, they had an element to their game that Tanev does not yet possess. When Tanev first arrived, he kind of reminded me of Mike Weaver, a steady stay at home defense. Weaver has paid his dues and yet he's making less than Tanev. TL's Mark Fraser wanted more too but had to settle for 1.2 Million, given his lack of experience. It will be interesting how Tanev does this year since Ballard isn't around and Tanev played better with him than any other pairing. Fan of Tanev, but imo, 1.5 M is not a steal. TOMapleLaughs
Alright signing, but old Gillis would've gotten another year.
apollo
Shoulda been two years at 1.5 per. 1 year at 1 mill max
Wilbur
Fair deal. Also, I doubt Tanev will be "richer" next season. He might have to settle for a bridge contract with a cap hit around 2 mil (not much richer lol).
