Kassian the 1st Liner

Yeah. I hope they use a legit reason, like him being horrible in his own end like AV's staff did, because he earned his demotion last year whether Kassian fans like it or not, there was no "minor" mistake that cost him that spot, he isn't capable of playing in both ends and isn't talented enough to be one dimensional.

Kass has been fine......people, myself included, have been bitching about no net presence on this team.......Kass parks himself in front and does a good job and people are bitching about him. Not sure what you expect him to do, he's not a dynamic game breaker, nor has he been sold as one. He was brought in to bring in a combination of size, grit and skill and he's done all three of those things in preseason

His skating still seems sub-par. He doesn't accelerate/change direction quickly. Loses short races to loose pucks, something that is very important for his style to score. He is also very inaccurate with his hits, doesn't punish anywhere close to where he should for his size. Lost damn near every puck battle last night. Hopeful but not all that optimistic.

It's only been a couple of PRE SEASON games. Lets see how he does throughout the regular season before we make judgment. Will he progress? I think he will. But to say that he is this, or that he is that after a couple preseason games isn't fair IMO. Last night he played a lot of the game with kids against the coilers full NHL team! Imagine how a Lucic, or a Bickell, or any other power forward would do with those line mates in a preseason game. He wasn't great, but he wasn't awful either. Lets see what happens over the course of a season. Torts will make sure this guy works as hard as possible to earn his keep. The kid has even said he's willing to work hard and get better. Give him a chance! He hasn't even played a full NHL season yet. Henrick said himself that he has skills and is working hard. Would our captian be lying to everyone when asked about him? You dont know what really happens behind the scenes. This kid needs time, and he will make mistakes, but thats apart of growing and learning in life. Why is everyone so harsh around here. Support your team and players instead of being so damn negative all the time!!

First it was the 17 games after the trade, people keep talking about he is still young and give him more time, it's only 17 games.

Then it's 39 games last season, people keep talking about he is still young and give him more time, it's only 39 games.

Now it's only 2 pre-season games, people keep talking about he is still young and give him more time.

When will this kind of excuse not valid anymore?

We are all fans of the the Canucks, we all want the team to do well, and in order for the team to do well, Kassian needs to learn the game at the AHL level, spend a year there to earn his keeps, show us that he can be effective playing on the top line. Right now his play speaks louder than words, he is not 1st line material, actually he can barely qualify for a 4th line duty. He is not ready despite the hopes we put on him because of his size.

We all want to give him the chance, the chance to be a long term NHL player, not a premature burn out. And his chance starts at the AHL level.

First step is lets hope the league let him off easy for the high stick.
