Papayas
he was playing against men at 17/18 years old goof and still managed to get 9 points. horvat would get 0 point in 25 games playing in russia against full grown men. horvat playing against adolescents How does that translate to playoff beast? O yea reported you for trolling
Silfverberg Snipes
Horvat is the safer choice. We don't know abouut the better choice yet. Both players serve a different roll with Nichusk playing an Evgeni Malkin style and Horvat a Johnny Toews style. Pretty much. I would have picked Nichushkin solely because I value offense more than defense. But I think a player like Horvat will ultimately suit this team under Torts better. I hope he's ready to center our second/third line ASAP.
CanucksSayEh
Pretty filthy moves on this kid. Dallas fans on HF have talked a lot about how he's quickly improving and has been better than numbers show. He also has the size which can never be taught. Uneasy about the choice of Bo, can only hope he's as successful for us as Nish likely will be for Dallas or whoever. Next season we may see both of em in the big league. Also think Shinkaruk will be better than Bo, possibly Nish as well... He just impressed me way more in pre-season. To whoever says dirty goals are the only goals in the playoffs, thats a total crock. Space is limited, its where pure skill really shines. Guys who can lift the puck backhand off balance and a foot away from a goalie pad are the ones who will succeed. Patty Kane anyone? Why do you think they take all the NHL rejects? There's a reason why the OHL produces waaay more NHLers than the KHL does.

He had plenty of room to dodge, play the puck skillfully, and those pylons are not good as a lot of the pros in the NHL. Don't say that he is better than Horvat, and yet we haven't seen him because he is developing in his junior to be a better hockey player next year. And it's true, he never been into a playoffs and don't say something that never happen. Jeez Stop being such a whiny brat trying to win over this argument on something you don't even know! UFCanuck
Nichuskin scored 1 goal 13 games into the season. According to many on CDC he had already won the Calder trophy prior to the season. This goal must make him an instant Hart Trophy winner.

Ghostsof1915
The better question is why didn't we draft Alex Chiasson instead of Schroeder? Right Handed Shot. 6'4", 187 lbs., 10 points in 14 games. <pout>

Not only would he have allowed us to trade Hodgson and not worry about it, he would also allow us to put Kesler with the Sedins every game. Patrick Kane
Nichuskin vs Horvat. It's not even people comparing the two players. It's comparing a Russian to a Canadian player. Yes there is a chance he 'bolts' to Russia. Yes, some Russians have had character issues. But everyone is using those 'stereotypes' and throwing it upon Nichuskin to justify Canucks not picking him. I've seen statements such as "poor defensive player" "playing top minutes with top line-mates" "making no impact" "not winning the calder" He's playing with Horcoff/Cole and has been working on his defensive game. He's been good in his own end, and hasn't had much freedom in the O-zone. Especially playing with those guys, points aren't going to be easy, especially for a 18 year old. 47.5% offensive zone starts! 2nd lowest on the team. Offensive zone finishes: 52.5%. Not many 18 year olds come to the NHL and tear it up... He's improving game after game, and will be a great player in no time. Dallas fans are loving this pick, and I like the pick for them too. Benn/Seguin/Chiasson/Nichuskin/Eakin and potentially Ritchie/Faksa is a bright foward crops going into their rebuild.
DownUndaCanuck
This team has enough big young wingers with Jensen and Kassian, not to mention guys like Archibald, Hansen and Higgins who will be powerforwards on this team for a while still. The only guys we had at center were Gaunce and Schroeder. Once the Sedins production starts to drop at the end of their new contracts, Horvat should be NHL-ready and ready to pick up some of their slack. If we hadn't drafted a center, we would have to one but Gaunce and Schroeder to replace Kesler and Henrik, and quite frankly to former have not proven themselves yet.
