[PGT] Canucks Lose 2-1

Games like these and the SJ game prove that we should not be mentioned with the elite teams anymore. We had opportunities to win these games against big teams and blew them. Disgusting, but it just shows where this Canuck team stands. Right now we need to focus on making the playoffs let alone going deep. Winning the Cup should no longer be our objective - making the playoffs should be.

For the entire game the Canucks generated next to nothing in terms of good scoring chances until Chicago scored their 2nd goal and sat back which is concerning. It's easy to generate offence when a team sits back, just a shame we couldn't do it when Chicago were actually playing well and trying. And what's even worse is that we couldn't finish any of those chances once they did relax.

The Sedins didn't look amazing, didn't generate much and were shutdown most of the game. Kesler was invisible apart from his goal and a slapshot late in the game, and really doesn't belong on the top line.

As for Burrows, I think people need to realize that he's a 3rd line checker. His offensive days are long gone. 3 assists in 12 games now. Surprise surprise, David Booth has 3 points (at least he has a goal) in 12 games with much less minutes, an almost-identical cap hit and he can actually hit, yet Booth is in the pressbox and Burrows is on our top line. I don't care how many chances you get, if you can't score you're as useless as Sestito playing 49 seconds and not scoring. This is a production-based industry, not a chance-based one. We can't afford to have lots of chances and expect them to come up good later in the season because we're fighting for the playoffs right now - we need guys to score and score now.

The good news is, the Canucks have plenty of those guys. Richardson, Kassian, Santorelli and Higgins are all scoring at around a 20 goal clip playing 3rd to 4th line minutes and deserve the opportunity that Burrows is getting. All of our depth scorers looked great tonight, Torts really has to give them more time because at times they were far better than the twins. Hansen looks like he's taken a step back which is a shame, but Weise looked fantastic tonight as did Sestito in their minutes given. No idea why Kassian was benched, Tortorella HAS to give this guy more ice time and ideally time with the twins.

Defensively, we were dissected by Quinneville. This defence has looked great all season long, but a good coach just ripped us apart. It's well known that our defencemen pinch and under Torts they've done a better job than they did under AV, but Quinneville's coaching staff found a way to exploit it on at least 3 or 4 occasions, leading to odd-man rush after odd-man rush against and eventually, they're going to score. Horrible pinches by a bunch of our defencemen, not just Stanton, and their fast forwards ripped us. Hopefully the Canucks learned a lesson from this.

I'm not agreeing with Torts putting Booth in the press box and Kassian stapled to the bench at all.

These are two very skilled power forwards with heavy shots that its obvious we could use somebody that shoots the damn puck well!

Damn Torts let them play out their kinks and find their games sitting them is stupid. If you're going to sit guys for making mistakes what about several misplays by the Sedins, Garrison and Hamhuis tonight.

Not agreeing with this at all.

Luongo with yet another softie lost the game. That 5 hole goal was simply unacceptable and if he can't cut out these soft goals he needs to be stapled to the bench.

The team lost the game not Luongo. If we are going to lose because of 1 goal he allows, then we have not played well enough to win.

Classic Canuck game

Lots of shots, lots of chances, not enough goals

Luongo plays well, still second best goalie on the ice

Burrows, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude cmon man just score one!!

Tanev, awesome, has been far and away our best defensive D-man this year, last season as well. Hamhuis and Garrison are really slipping, too many dumb plays.

Kassian benched for Weise, again..

It is beyond stupid to blame Luongo. Yeah, he probably should have had that second goal.

BUT

We scored ONE freakin' goal, and it was from a five on three. That's just not going to cut it, let's get real. To single out Luongo ... give me a break. Some of you really are lousy fans.

Funny if we had the 2011 offense we would probably be on like a 7 game win streak. Lu has this year managed to keep the games mostly at 2 goals against and ain't letting them get out of hand.

But now 2 goals against is too much, we need to keep them at 1 or 0 lol

missed it, what did he say?

I can't see him being impressed with the benching.

it will be on nux.com soon,

basically, he initially said ask the coach, then when pressed harder if he knew, he said he did but will not discuss it public.

then focused on the team, and wanting to contribute. rather than making some immature comments, or hinting disagreement with the coach, he kept it professional.

Lu is ruining everyon's confidence by letting in soft goals at the worst possible times. He cost us a point today and it's laughable people actually don't have a problem with his effort on the 2nd goal.

yeah, just like the whole team is ruining his confidence cause they can't score more than one goal unless the opponent is a AHL team like the injury ridden CBJ come into town.

Thanks, Good on him, I'm sure Torts will like the fact he acted that way.

Hopefully he will take this as a learning experience and work hard.
