King Heffy
Hopefully the only reason for the delay is they're talking to lawyers about the possibility of a lifetime ban.
rosalie52
In my opinion, the NHL will be extremely hard toward Shawn Thornton. He'll get 2 games of suspension+ 1 spanking given by Brendan Shanahan+ 1 severe warning ("Don't do this again, Shawn...please".)
kurtis
Haha 15 games. He should be charged. If this happend on the streets, he would of been charged.
Alchemy Time
15 games is solid but it should have been longer. Or at the very least they should have tacked on a massive fine.
thema
Not enough IMHO (I wanted 20 games) but it is still 2 games less than Bert got for a criminal assault that ended a player's career and pretty much ruined his life. Last I checked Orpik will be just fine...
etsen3
Was hoping for 20+ games, but still more than I was expecting.
HKSR
Let's get it straight people. Bertuzzi's official fine was the rest of the season and the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs. That's WAY more than what Thornton got. Only reason why it seemed shorter is because the Canucks lost in 7 in the first round. 20 games is definitely not enough IMO. Master Mind
15 games? What a joke. Everything Thornton did meets the criteria of a much harsher suspension.
Frazzy Desjardins
Fair suspension
VIC_CITY
I saw some people suggesting 25 games but had a hard time thinking any Bruin could get that many. 15 is bare minimum IMO. Is he a repeat offender? I know he wouldn't comment, but it would be interesting to hear what Bertuzzi's thoughts are.
Bill Sikes
It never should have got that far, Orprick should have been tossed for his hit on Erickson in the first place, it was a head shot on a player in a vulnerable position (as the rule theoretically applies) and Erickson never touched the puck on the play, and if Orprick had the guts to answer for it when Thornton came at him the first time it would have been settled. Combo of incompetent reffing and the instigator rule, gutless cheap shot artists like Orpik and Marchant can run wild and refuse to answer for it, they take out a player and get rewarded with a power play via the instigator rule. Thirteen
I like it, he now has a record of a lenghty suspension along with a disturbing act. Violence like that does not belong in the game. Shawn should serve the full suspeion. Appeal is would be bogus...
Spoosh
I was hoping 25-ish or so, but I'm happy with the 15 too. That'll teach a lesson.

That's WAY more than what Thornton got. Only reason why it seemed shorter is because the Canucks lost in 7 in the first round. 20 games is definitely not enough IMO. Bert's "fine" was 17 regular season games which he would have been paid for. Players don't get paid for the playoffs (other than team performance bonuses)
HKSR
It was 13 regular season games and 7 playoff games. Besides, you honestly think the money is the issue for the players when they see their team being eliminated in the playoffs without being able to do anything about it? Chauncey
I like how Shanahan buries the announcement on a Saturday..what a goof. Shanahan is a joke and knows who to please to keep his pay cheques coming in. I liked him as a player a bit, too bad he turned into such a front office whore.
