Master Mind Posted December 15, 2013 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Down to the final 8 now. My picks: Mario. Most iconic franchise and has done more for the industry than any other. I'm guessing Mario will win this iconic matchup just like he has before. Final Fantasy. This is a tough one. I haven't played many games from either franchise, but as of now FF7 is my favourite game out of these 2 franchises, so I'll vote FF then. Super Smash Bros. These games are always lots of fun. Each of them, especially Brawl, are among my favourite multiplayer games. I have high expectations for the next one. Metroid. Easily one of my most favourite franchises, with Super Metroid and Metroid Prime being 2 of the greatest games ever made. Top of the line gameplay, atmosphere, enemies, powerups, it's simply an incredible franchise. g_bassi13 Posted December 15, 2013 Share Posted December 15, 2013 5 of these 8 are from Nintendo. By the end of the round, all 4 remaining will in all likelihood be from Nintendo as well. That says something. Just happy EA Sports will finally be eliminated after all this. Doesn't belong in the company of these other series. Didn't like voting against Final Fantasy, but I think Zelda is the best series of all time, so it wasn't particularly hard. Would even vote for Zelda over Mario in the next round, even if it has little chance of beating it. The hard one here was Donkey Kong over Metroid. Would have voted for Metroid if this tournament was conducted a few years ago, based on the awesomeness of the Metroid Prime reboot series, but since Donkey Kong Country Returns came out, that tipped the scales back in that series' favour. Retro Studios, these guys have a seriously underrated development group. Link to comment

Oh well, at least they'll both have lost to another one of my favourites. I was hoping at least one of the round of 8 battles would be close, hopefully that changes with more votes. Link to comment

Well I don't think that's the case, since there's about twice as many good Metroid games than there are DK. Though I'm guessing there's more people that played DK when they were younger than there are people who played Metroid. I remember DKC being huge back in the day. Link to comment
