MH370 - Presumed Lost in Indian Ocean, Possible Debris Spotting in Reunion

So, The Malaysian Gov. has changed their official stance on the last words from the cockpit of flight 370 from "All right, good night" to "Good Night Malaysian three seven zero". These are not 2 almost identical lines that they could have misheard. The Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority has been asked repeatedly to release the official transcripts bu they have refused stating they are still conduction forensic investigations on them. Why that would keep them from circulating copies to everyone is beyond understanding.

It looks like the Malaysian Gov is doing some revisionist history work already.

Cover-ups have been done before. After investigating Silk Air (forget the number) one agency was able to deem it a tragic suicide, while the other agency wrote in their report that their was insufficient evidence to declare a confident cause of accident. Obviously it was a cover-up by the airline to prevent panic from their users. Who would feel safe using an airline that has pilot committing suicide? That was their thinking.

The NTSB declared it a pilot suicide but the Indonesian NTSC said their wasn't sufficient evidence. Apparently members of the NTSC agreed with the NTSB findings but were overruled by their boss.

It happens, I guess.

the fact that there is no real leader in charge of the whole investigation is frustrating, and having malaysian authorities changing what "facts" they have every few days is absolute ridiculous.

not sure if they are just incompetent or on purposely misleading....

watch them drag this out until the black box batteries run out, and just conclude the whole search

I expect the Malaysian Gov. was completely unprepared for this. With no set of plans in place to deal with this or any form of emergency. Then they started blundering their way through it making terrible mistakes one after the other. Their national pride has been hurt by the international criticism. Now they are in damage control mode trying to rework the official story to save as much face as possible. If that means changing some or all of the official transcripts from the flight, so be it.

IS THERE THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE MALAYSIAN GOV DOES NOT WANT THE BLACK BOX FOUND.

I was worried we might not know what happened because they may never find the black box. I never realized it might be because of the manipulation of facts by the Malaysian Government.

A Chinese ship searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane in the southern Indian Ocean has picked up a pulse signal, Chinese media say.

They say the signal has a frequency of 37.5kHz - the same as those emitted by the flight recorders.

However there is no evidence so far that it is linked to MH370.

Dozens of ships and planes have joined the search, with the operation moving into its most intensive phase before batteries on the data recorders fade.

On Saturday the Haixun 01 - one of two Chinese ships in the area - picked up the signal at about 25 degrees south latitude and 101 degrees east longitude, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.

"It is yet to be established whether it is related to the missing jet," it cautioned.

A China Central Television correspondent aboard the Haixun-01 (pronounced "high shuen") reported that the 37.5 kHz signal was detected on Saturday every second for 1.5 minutes.

They seem kind of skeptical, but I can't imagine what the chances are for something to emit the same frequency signal for 90 seconds straight.

Suicide by the pilot was only a theory and speculation, there was no conclusive evidence for this. What the NTSB concluded was that the CVR/FDR disabling and the crash was likely caused by human manipulation based on computer modeling. But the CVR stopped working after the pilot left the cockpit. The Singapore Police Force investigated the pilot and crew and denied any suicidal tendencies or motives to deliberately crash the plane. Furthermore, the plane didn't really crash, it broke apart in the air as it was travelling at the speed of sound.

In 1997 the FAA also rejected 7 of the NTSB's recommendations for Boeing 737's, which had a history of crashes due to malfunction (Silk Air 185 was a 737), so the NTSB is not a flawless or omnipotent entity. NTSB focused on a faulty rudder system while further investigation actually revealed a servo valve problem causing the rudder problems on 737. This was the speculated cause of the Silk Air crash by the NTSC and a US court also determined this (though it was not permitted to consider the NTSB theory).

And in the end the rudder manufacturer had to pay compensation to the families.

Still could be a coverup but it was more complicated than many think.

the month of reports consisting of mostly speculation wasn't enough for you?

I don't care about the speculation.. What I meant was its been over a month and still no sign of the airplane. Something seems fishy when the news coverage is dropping minus CNN. Planes just don't disappear.
