Damn shame Virtanen isn't in the tournament and going against Ehlers (maybe not head to head, but still fun to see).

Guest Dasein
The Canucks are so deep down the middle in this year's tournament it's not even funny. VAN: Horvat, McCann Gaunce, Cassels WIN: Petan, De Leo EDM: Draisaitl CAL: Bennett, Granlund (Markus) Although thin down the middle at this tournament, Calgary looks good with Monahan, Bennett, Granlund and Backlund forming a young core of centers that will compete for the top 6 role. Their future looks solid down the middle. It's astounding that Edmonton only just added Draisaitl to their system who is worth noting at center when they have just one top 6 center in RNH. What is this team even doing. Winnepeg doesn't need to worry, despite Burmistrov's departure, since their top 6 centers Little and Scheifele are still young. Petan is pretty small so their pipeline is a bit of a concern, but if Burmistrov returns as he is said to be next season, they should be fine for now. Vancouver looks really impressive when you look at what we've gathered in the last three years - Gaunce, Horvat, Shinkaruk (C/LW), Cassels, McCann, Fox (C/LW) - and we just invited Valk. With having Sedin, Bonino and Vey in the NHL today, we have a lot of center depth, which we've lacked even in our President's Trophy years. VegasCanuck
When is Virtanen actually going to be able to play? He's been practicing with the Hitmen and Virtanen has stated that he is ahead of schedule. I'd be shocked if we saw him this weekend in the tournament, but his recovery time was supposed to be 4 - 6 months. End of this month will be 4. If he's ahead of schedule, its not out of the question that he might get cleared for full practice with the Canucks during camp. If that happens, I would think it might be possible that we get a look at him in exhibition play for a game or two, which would be awesome! Not holding my breath though! Plum
We might be ahead of Calgary in terms of turning the team around quicker, we got 2 extra 1st rounders in the last 2 drafts, 5 1st rounders in the last 3 drafts is great for rebuilding this team. Comparing prospect pools: Gaudreau - Monahan - Poirier Baertschi - Bennett - Arnold Klimchuk - Reinhart - Granlund Shinkaruk - McCann - Kassian Virtanen - Horvat - Jensen Gaunce - Cassels - Vey Calgary has the better high-end talent with Monahan, Bennett, possibly Gaudreau if he becomes the star alot say he will become but we have alot of depth in our top 9, I think Gaunce has potential for top 6 winger. He's big, smart, does alot right, plays the game the right way and should translate to NHL easier than others. Cassels and Vey are potential tweeners which is always needed in a team. We aren't too far off and you can give us the edge in defence with Hutton, Tryamkin and Corrado. We already have Lack who is better than all their goalies while being fairly young and then Demko>Gillies. Calgary should definitely be ahead of us, they got rid of Bouwmeester and Iginla which are more valuable than Kesler and Schneider IMO.
