sQuish
I still don't understand why more people aren't questioning the Sam Gagner for a 6th round pick? This is beyond comprehension... We give a 2nd round pick for Linden Vey who will probably be a career AHLer... and the Yotes get a 6th overall pick basically for free? The guy is only 24 years old and quite talented, and may only need a change of scenery to get the spark going. Sure he's overpaid but 1/3 of the contract is taken on by TB still.. so they got Gagner at 3.2mil cap hit... that's not even that bad.

cdubuya
Makes you wonder what happened to this guy. Edm shoulda moved him after his gretzky night.

Last year he put up 38p in 48gp also got 8 points against a great team in a night. Idk how that doesn't belong in the NHL
TmanVan
The only logical explanation is Tampa is signing Dan Boyle, And Brad Richards. Then Stevie Y convinces Khabibulin to come back to Tampa in a back up roll. In an even more surprising event, Ryan Callahan is traded to the rangers along with a 1st for Marty St Louis. Yzerman then gets excited and returns to the ice as player/Gm. Only to trade himself at the deadline.
higgyfan
Makes you wonder what happened to this guy. Edm shoulda moved him after his gretzky night. Sam Gagner is the poster child for why prospects shouldn't be rushed into the NHL. He had so much potential as a jr coming from the London Knights (118pts in 53gs with +36). If he had been picked by a team like Detroit, he would probably be just starting his second full season in the NHL and would be a far better player; both offensively and defensively. Phoenix (and Gags) is the winner yesterday. Tippett will probably be a really good coach for Sam.
VegasCanuck
How badly does your "Welcome to the team" call have to go to be flipped that fast and for that little return?
elvis15
If Gagner is worth a bag of pucks what is Shroeder worth? Schroeder doesn't have a bad contract, but still, not much.
Ryan Strome
Schroeder doesn't have a bad contract, but still, not much. Well you're right JS certainly doesn't have a bad contract atm.

TOMapleLaughs
I for one think Gagner still has some upside to him. Good qualcomp center. And he might actually work out in Phx with Vermette and Hanzal taking the hard work shifts. But then again, nah.
luongotv
I live in Edmonton, and all the Oilers fans are happy at getting Purcell. They change their perspective of Gagner so quickly... "We should have traded him months back" "Never liked him" etc
coryberg
If Gagner is worth a bag of pucks what is Shroeder worth? I was thinking the same thing about Cody hodgson. Similar age, size, playing styles, production and cap hits.
