(Proposal) Van-Boston

Recommended Posts

Boston does cap dump

To Van: boychuck and kelly

To boston: Ryan Stanton, Yannick weber, 2014 5th round pick(we have 2 this year)

(I know the value is way off but the sole reason the bruins do it is to cap dump

Bruins get almost 6 mill in cap relief and get to resign everyone they need to. They also get a replacement for boychuck in weber or Stanton

Then we package up boychuck, kelly in a trade

Although it's true that we are helping boston by doing this and we would be over the cap and our third d pair would be too expensive and it would stunt the growth of our young guys.

With this trade we could package up kelly, boychuck, Hansen and burrows (he didn't want to waive his clause to go to New Jersey)

Then we could do:

To whichever team burrows would waive: burrows

To van: 2015 2nd round pick

To Winnipeg: Jannik Hansen

To van: 2015 2nd round pick

To Carolina: Johnny boychuck, 2015 5th round pick

To van: 2015 2nd round pick

To Tampa: Markstrom, 2015 3rd round pick

To van: Connelly

Stockpile the 2nd round picks

And keep kelly

Sign Sami salo to a one year 1mill contract to return home and retire as a Canuck

We would gain approximately 3-4mill in cap space as well with all of this.

Lineup:

Sedin. Sedin. Vrbata

Jensen. Bonino. Connelly

Higgins Mathias Kassian

Vey. Richardson Kelly

Dorset

Sestito

Hamhuis. Bieksa

Tanev. Edler

Sbisa. Corrado

Salo

Miller

It depends. What do we get for Boychuk and Kelly? It's probably a steal if we can get both of them for that price but they're also kind of redundant since we have too many 3rd line centers too, and we also have Bieksa and/ or Tanev in the Top 4, leaving an expensive 3rd pairing guy in Boychuk, and we'd be over the cap if this happens close to the start of the regular season. Would probably do just Boychuk and then move Hansen so we can fit in the cap.

Not gonna lie, seems like a pointless deal for us to make, although we absolutely dominate the trade. Makes our cap situation messy. Gonna be tough to swing either or both in a following deal. If we keep them, we have no room for Kelly, and could make room for Boychuk, but it would probably stunt the growth of someone like Corrado. While we win the deal, its not a deal we should even consider. Boston is over the cap and needs to solve their own problems. No reason to help them unless it truly helps us.

I proposed the same about a month ago, but gave Boston better value in return. I'd love to get rid of Beaker somehow.

No they don't get good value cuz they know they are in cap trouble and need to shed it in order to sign their young up and coming players in Krug and Reilly smith ect. Lol

The only one of those deals you might get is the Boychuk one, but then you wouldn't have him in the first place with the offer you made to Boston.

Beaker is Jannik Hansen. His cap hit is too high for his meagre contributions, but his NTC scuppers a quick trade. If he could be convinced to be a part of the Boston outfit, including him in a deal for Kelly would get us a lot closer than the spare parts you offered them.

But the only reason boston would trade those guys for what I offered them is to clear enough cap so that they can resign guys like Krug and Reilly smith ect.

And the other trades aren't that far off value wise are they?

With each of those trades you have to think of the other team.

Name any team that would part with a 2nd round pick in a deep draft for Alex Burrows, after the season he has had? And then consider if Burrows would waive his NTC to go there. It's not happening.

Jannik Hansen had such a bad season, a 4th round pick would be the maximum we could get for him on that cap hit. And again, NTC.

Tampa doesn't need Markstrom, especially if giving up Connelly. They have Bishop in net and a good stack of goalie prospects already.

As for Boston, if they want to save cap, they can trade Kelly and Boychuk to Florida and get a much better return than Stanton+Weber+a 5th. One was a waiver wire pickup with minimal value, another a worthless asset, and a 5th means nothing. They could easily get someone like Kulikov for that package.

I skimmed past the other replies, but this makes no sense for us. If we could package up Boychuck and Kelly after for something better, why couldn't Boston? As mentioned, we'd be over the cap with this deal, so our cap situations aren't so different that this really helps us.

Besides, isn't the idea of helping another team out of cap trouble to get something we wouldn't otherwise get? We don't get a high pick or good prospect, we just get two players that don't fit really and you want to trade away right after.

The Bruins are over the cap but that includes Savard's cap hit which will go on LTIR as soon as the season starts. Krug and Smith combined won't make more than 5m so the Bruins will likely try to dump Kelly and that should have them under the cap. Boychuk will not be moved as the Bruins still expect to contend in the weak Eastern Conference and he played #3 minutes of them last year. I think if you really want Boychuk you can just wait till next free agency as he might end up walking. The chances of Boston trading him though are slim to none.
