Mathew Barzal
I think our current play is sustainable due to work ethic but our standings will be determined by LA and Minnisota, they're just as fired up as we are.
Gaudette Celly
The much more important factor is what we do against the teams we're battling with. If we play .500 overall and win every game against them, we're likely in. If we play .550 and lose every game to them, probably not. Remember too, ".500 hockey" now is essentially losing hockey, thanks to the OTL/SO points. Last year only 5 teams finished under .500 for the season. Herberts Vasiljevs
Anything can happen in the playoffs. Edmonton made it to the final as a 8 seed Philly made the final as a 7 seed LA and NJ were 8 and 6 seeds respectively LA and Chicago last year were in the WCF and were both 3rd in their respective divisions You gotta have faith brother! Goal:thecup
Even that might not do it. You could go 0.714 and still lose a series (3 W + 4 OTL => 3*1+4*2=10 points; 10/14=0.714)There are no ties and no loser points in the playoffs. BCNeil
I can't do this right now, as I'm in Vegas about to watch the game and don't have paper and pen. But where would the Canucks be if it was 3 points for a win or ot win, 2 for shoot out win, 1 for ot or shootout loss. Like many hockey people want. Bo.Horvat53
Yes we probably can with a .500 record but we have to push for that 2nd spot in the Pacific.
Quoted
Honestly, how much does it really matter? Making the playoffs only delays their off season by a little. It makes the club a bit more money though I guess.
Ronalds.Kenins41
I doubt we make it. Even though we are in a playoff spot. We barely have any breathing room against the team's that are legit playoff teams like Minny, la and Calgary. If we go on a two or three game losing streak we are basically done. apollo
. 500 is not good enough 25 games left... I'll only accept 17-4-4 good for 38 points 107 points to win the division GO CANUCKS GO
Dekey Pete
it's not making playoffs that scares me; its what the heck they do in them. Nashville scares me, so please don't play them in the 1st round. Maybe this team has a chance against the Ducks, since the kesler factor might come into play and motivate the Sedins? lol I don't know! It's a deep draft that's all. Would rather play Nashville or Chicago or even Anaheim, than LA in the first round. We just don't match up well against LA for some reason.
