bigbadcanucks
They say love and hate is the same emotion. To hate Keith means he's worthy of some emotional response from us. Indifference to Keith may be the appropriate collective response from us...anything else would mean we give a rats @$$ about him. But that's a real nice thing he's done. pistolpro327
pretty easy for people to look good in situations like this. Doesn't change the fact he is probably a dick and has terrible character and throws child like temper tantrums. The dude literally suckered a guy full on superman elbow to the head and that just doesn't fly with me. Once you show you are capable of such things it tells the real story imo. viking mama
This video does not address his propensity for deliberately blind-siding, elbowing, and carving-up his fellow union brothers,..who are just co-operating with him to play a game that earns him a generous pay-cheque. The fact that he's not spitting on children,.. or will selectively be kinder to some human beings over others,...does not rehabilitate his reputation on the ice for being a dirt-bag who makes fun of injured-players while they are receiving medical assistance. Keith remains relatively un-repentant for his many malicious deeds of vindictive retribution. That's the not-so-nice part of the role-modelling Keith does for this little girl, her peers and the next generation of hockey players....who watch their 'favorite player' compete on TV. Apparently the NHL thinks his mentality is acceptable tho',..or they wouldn't still be revering dirt-bags like Mark Messier, an infamous 'head-shot' artist, with something called the "Mark Messier - Leadership Award." Modern-day mixed messages like this from the NHL, have parents cringing and pulling their kids out of hockey to play more progressive sports that have evolved to offer better protections for their children's over-all health and happiness while involved in sport. The brain is a valuable thing. Sad - how a couple of the NHL's most-hyped players, like Keith and the retired Messier,(main-stays on O-6's) are still managing to dodge the consequences for using their brains improperly on the ice to harm their opponents, by playing so un-ethically. Well, I for one, will continue in my efforts to make them more 'accountable' for their past and present actions,...not LESS. Cue the clip of Keith dissing that female reporter in VAN. Would a wheel-chair have deflected any of that treatment, I wonder? Character is more revealed in act of split-second decision-making,..than it is thru a slickly produced video. I'm looking for 'true' leadership, thru some meaningful repentance and perhaps more timely apologies in the future,..NOT thru video-hype, ad-campaigns, or by the creation of some new "NHL Award" to effect this re-habilitation. It's all relative. Someone's just attempting to delude people into choosing these dudes as their favorite NHLer's..for marketing purposes and money. Wise-up, world! etsen3
I'm sure Keith is a reasonably good dude in his personal life. I'm sure no reasonable person would turn down the opportunity to do something like this. But this was never about his off-ice personality, the hate is because he's a dirty player and this doesn't change that.
TimberWolf
The Butthurt is strong here. What? The butthurt that some can't get over that Vancouver fans don't like a player that tried to end the career of one of the classiest players in the league? RonMexico
It sure would be nice to have a real #1 defenceman like Keith on the Canucks.
viking mama
Edler is that. Eddy just gets neutered of his aggression by the NHL, for some in-defensible reasonings,...where as Keith does NOT. Keith can play over the edge,.. 'cuz he has no cause to fear the consequences of doing so...and that's been his ready advantage playing for an O-6. Why did Stevens get away with it? They played for non O6 teams. What Keith excels at, like Pronger and Stevens used to as well, is timing. When you are going to take liberties, you have to do them at the right time. OFC not everyone has to resort to playing over the edge to be successful, but it helps to know how to time your moves. Uh - 'cuz the rules changed in the league everywhere,..except for in the markets of the traditional power-mongers and their teams,...whose mind-sets need to be dragged kickin' and screaminin' into the 21st century. The heavily-seeded DPS has leanings and biases that skew their judgements. The appointees are beholding to the persons who have appointed them,..the power-mongers (BOG Chairman, Burkie's block whom he's previously been paid to "advise," and the O-6's) Keith had virtually skirted accountability for bad-boy behaviors (multiple head-shots) his entire career,.. until the star-lynching of Daniel Sedin, a likely play-off rival before the 2012 play-offs. 5 meaningless games to de-rail one of the 'best' offensive duos in hockey - done! Then, in subsequent play-offs as a repeat offender, Keith's DPS-consequence for carving-up Carter for 14 stitches and multiple broken teeth in yet another tantrum of vindictiveness,..nets him, wait-for-it....a suspension for 1 game?! This - after Rome had previously received a 4-gamer in the SC-Final as a 1st-timer for a late-hit! I thought they said they were raising-the-bar on punishing head-shots, on-ice violence or non-hockey play retributions? These DPS' judgements do not compute fairly...and Keith continues to garner lenciency for malicious acts like his slashings and tauntings...while Edler has been suspended, each time, after a questionable determination,..with NO maliciousness or intent anywhere to be found. Which player looks like they are being sheltered from accountability? It's more than just the optics of the situation here ,... it's a cleverly orchestrated - shame! JeremyCuddles
don't hate him... don't hate the player... just hate what he did to daniel sedin... that one moment of action changed the twins life for ever.... How so? They are both still clicking at a top 20 pace. Not to mention their decline, if any, would more likely be a result of getting older.
