UFCanuck
The Blues got destroyed in that trade, Oshie is a beast. Ovi-Backstrom-Oshie and they got Mr. Conn Smythe

EternalCanuckFan
Brouwer is really underrated here. I agree. Brouwer isn't a flashy player like Oshie and might only be a top 9 player, but he is consistent and brings a gritty game. He fits in well with the Blues' physical style. TOMapleLaughs
On the bright side for St. Louis, this can be sold as a parallel move, short-term. Both have scored the same amount of playoff points since Brouwer won the cup in 2010. Oshie's technically a better player, but has to learn how to step it up still at age 28. Still, the Williams deal was sweetheart and Washington is still very much better this year. They're going all-in. Would be nice to see OV get his cup. greetingsfrombrazil
I think Washington won the trade, but I like the return for St Louis. Caps got the better player, obviously. Oshie is great overall and has 2 more years in his $4.175M contract, which is amazing value. But Brouwer is as solid as a 3rd linner can be. Guy does it all, scores, PKs and plays the screen on the PP. He's a great addition, even with 1 year left to FA. That Copley kid seems to be a good goalie prospect. Overall, good value for both teams. It will be interesting to see what STL does next

theminister
The funny part is that just getting away from Hitchcock will provide a boost in Oshie's meets giving the trade good optics.
Hugor Hill
60 point player who is also great defensively. Damn Capitals absolutely robbed the blues here It's about time a Western team besides us gets robbed.
Guest
Loving this trade for the Caps. Blues and Bruins imploding. Perhaps do nothing is sometimes the better option?
