[Trade] T.J. Oshie to Capitals

Recommended Posts

You guys know Oshie has never scored more than 20 goals in a season right?

I doubt CDC knows that. Some dude was laughed all the way out of the last thread for suggesting Bonino ++ for Oshie. Everyone called him an idiot, but now he seems to be pretty bang on. Bonino at least had a 22 goal season before and only costs 1/3 of Oshie.

While I wouldn't mind Oshie on our team, CDC needs to stop pumping the tires of everyone not in a Canucks jersey.

We could have offered a similar package.

Higgins, Jensen and Anaheims 2nd woulda done the job.

How is that "a similar package" to Brouwer, Copley and a 3rd?

Jensen's trade value right now it almost nil-he's got to improve to avoid busting out.

Higgins is older and smaller than Brouwer, scores less, and plays a sound positional defensive game as opposed to Brouwer's power game. They seem like different players at a different position with different values.

There's nothing similar to Copley in the suggested package.

Aside from the differences otherwise, the main problem is that the suggested package doesn't contain a piece with enough value to the Blues to make them want to even think of trading Oshie. There's no piece nearly as desirable as Brouwer there.

I would love to see the source you have that indicates this. Because here's mine to prove otherwise:

That took me a minute to pull up.

Holy crap!!! 21 goals in one of his seasons? Stop the presses!

The point is that it's easy to spout off incorrect statements as fact. However, it's just as easy to fact check what you think before someone proves you otherwise. This leads to people not taking what you say seriously and question everything you say in the future, and for good reason.

How much you want to bet that if I said "You guys know that Alex Burrows has never scored more than 30 goals in a season, right?" that people would pounce all over me for that incorrect statement.

More importantly, TJ Oshie, who has scored 19 goals twice in previous seasons, has a lot going for his game than scoring goals. But yeah, "stop the press!", because it's important to have players on your team who only score goals, right Toronto?

  • 3 months later...

May have top post this to REDDIT TIFU

So it was just another day for me...

Until I read the Capitals roster tonight...

Now I try to be a bit easy or lenient on myself, although I've been a long time hockey follower and nuck fan, life was pretty busy for us as we brought our 5th child into this world around the time time of this trade... however its probably my worst hockey sin or transgression regarding trades in my lifetime...

Anyways... back to readin the lineup for the game tonight... kinda excited inside... y'know Ovie...Backstrom... and all comin into town... (just had to check the roster to see if backstrom was there - that'd make this a bigger fail...)

and down the lineup I go and I see TJ Oshie.... I was like WTF.... OMG....thats not right.... cmon I'd know if Oshie had gotten moved...

then I had to find out who he was traded for and when... ;thinking gotta be a good return for TJ....

Which after a quick google led me to a sportsnet article... stating Brouwer and a 3rd rounder and a goalie...

Figured I'd share this facepalm with all and might as well have a look at how the teams and individual players are doing... from the trade...

Never had a hockey trade dupe me for this length of time... early on but appears all parties involved (other than the pick and that goalie-no time to look them up) are doing well after the transaction...

LOL
