[Rumour] Flames looking to make a deal, called about Stamkos

The Calgary Flames attempt to perform an important transaction.

The CEO of the Alberta training, Brad Treliving, is very active on the phone for several days, reported Sportsnet.

He even had discussions with his counterpart from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Steve Yzerman, about a ... Steven Stamkos.

Stamkos currently runs the last year of his contract. If he does not sign a new agreement by 1 July, it will be an unrestricted free agent.

The Flames would be willing to withdraw from the young Sam Bennett, among others. The name of Sean Monahan was mentioned, but it would not be available.

The Dennis Wideman and Kris Russell defenders and forward Jiri Hudler could also be part of a possible exchange, according Sportsnet.

Wednesday, Karri Ramo guard was placed on waivers, certainly in order to lower the payroll of the team.

However, the Flames are vulnerable on the transaction market, the ones who have a 1-5-0 record since the start of the campaign.

We even heard that his conversation with Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman was all about the Lightning’s obvious issues with signing soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Steven Stamkos.

The Flames would be willing to deal a top young player, perhaps Sam Bennett, to acquire Stamkos at this point. That’s risky but wise, in our opinion. But there’s one problem: This early in the proceedings (a full five months prior to the NHL trading deadline) the conversation from Tampa’s end would start with centre Sean Monahan, who we believe to be the most untradeable Flame.

...Not out of the realm of possibility. If Tampa feels they won't be able to keep Stamkos beyond this year, could very much trade him for the right package and have a capable Tyler Johnson take over. Would be risky on Clagary's behalf as well since for the time being would be a rental. And for whatever it's worth, Tampa fans for the most part say they would be content moving Stamkos for a package if it meant keeping their stacked team together and not breaking it up due to the cap it would take to keep Stammer.

Don't know what it would take but possibly Bennett+Wideman/Hudler+1st?

hahaha.  It would take at a start Bennett + Monahan + a first.  Bennett is looking too small to play his aggressive style without getting hurt.  He would only be a small (no pun intended) part of a big package.

Forget Cgy, Yzerman should just wait it out and trade Stammer at the deadline to TO for Reilly, Marner,  and a 1st, they are desperate for a hometown  superstar and stupid enough to give Stammer the max contract allowed which is what he and his agent will be looking for no doubt.

Toronto will never trade Reilly. I remember at the 2012 draft, Burke said he would have taken him first overall if the Leafs had gotten it. He's not there anymore, but I think that mentality has stayed. Kid is 21 plays like he's 27.

Leafs are gonna dish out max contract to Stammer (7years, 11+million[with bonuses]). Yzerman can decide to not match and take his 3 first round picks, or make some cap room and match it.

they did the same with Babcock, just out spent the competition.

Stammer will be ufa if he gets to that point so there will be no compensation.  No chance Yzerman let's him walk for nothing,  he'll sign him long term or deal him imo.

This is a fake rumour to distract the masses of the Phlegms crashing back down to Earth.

There is no way this happens and Stamkos will not waive to play in Calgary. Its either Toronto or some other eastern team.

Its funny, i saw some calgary fans post a proposal of Hudler, Klimchuck, Kulak (Who?) and their 1st for Stamkos LOL

my bad, I forgot to take into account the 7 seasons rule. I still think something like that could happen though.
