Apple Juice
Seems like Ovechkin may be getting a hearing from the DoPS. He hit Miller right in the numbers and had a couple of seconds to opt away from the hit but considering Ovechkin is a tank, he crushes Miller (who has had shoulder problems in the past) and Miller left the game and didn't return. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/ovechkin-julien-comment-on-controversial-hit-from-behind/ If you click the link and watch Marchand's interview with a reporter, it's hilarious how blunt and straightforward Marchand is to the reporter yet the reporter constantly tries to ask the same question but gets no response. Quote Alex Ovechkin recieved a five-minute major for boarding against the Boston Bruins Saturday night when he hit Kevan Miller from behind. He remained in the game and recorded an assist on a second period goal, but some wondered if Ovechkin should have been tossed for the hit. Count Bruins coach Claude Julien as one who (likely) thinks Ovechkin should have been given the boot. Miller, who’s had shoulder injuries in the past, immediately left the ice in distress and appeared to collapse in pain after leaving the ice. After the game, it was confirmed by reporters that he went to a local hospital. On the other hand, Ovechkin called the hit “a hockey play” and suggested the referee who called the penalty didn’t think it was especially egregious either. To measure them up, Ovechkin stands 6-foot-3, 239 pounds, while Miller is 6-foot-2, 210 pounds.
-Vintage Canuck-
Nope, not suspension-worthy.

The Weasel
not that bad. like they said. he already had shoulder problems. ovie is strong though. it's too bad it wasn't marchand.

Chris
If the NHL is Consistent; $250,000 fine, or 1 game suspension. I could also see it being let go for the simple fact that it looks like Ovie simply overpowered him.
MayRayDown
You can see Ovechkin stopped going for the hit and just kind of glided into him. Idk how you can suspend Ovechkin here, he can't just turn 90 degrees and let Miller just get free
canucksnhl
He was chasing the puck just as Miller retrieves it and takes the body. Maybe they should cushion the boards?
-AJ-
I've see worse. Maybe 1 game or so. At least his head didn't go in first.
Blue Jay 22
I don't think it is suspension worthy, but he does have a history with these kind of hits. Most likely a fine.
RUPERTKBD
Julien's a whiner, but he's bang on in his assessment that virtually anyone else would have been tossed from the game for that hit. No supplemental discipline, but Ovie should not have remained in that game.
JeremyCuddles
He glides into him, almost as if to pin him to the boards. Miller didn't brace himself at all. Never know which way the league blows with regards to suspensions though.

Green Building
No chance. Miller turns just before impact, and even though Ovie hits him it almost looks like he let up a bit. Don't know the last time I saw a boarding major not come with a misconduct though.
Realtor Rod
Miller must be brittle as sugar glass. No further discipline, the optics at normal speed look a little bad but the slomo tells the story.

Shift-4
If they suspend Marchand for this DoPS will finally be getting one right.
poetica
Oh look, another hit where the Bruins are all up in arms when someone does it to them but just call it "hockey" when they do it to someone else.
