Shinkaruk_9
Forget quoting you on it, I want to see you make a youtube video saying you're a retard and know nothing about junior hockey if you're wrong. Up the stakes and we'll see if you stand behind an assertion as dumb as that one. World Juniors, another go of the Memorial Cup on a dominant team, a chance to prove he has more offense than he's been given credit for and possibly as the captain of the Knights. It's never happening that he makes our roster. He might get a few call ups to supplement all that Junior success and give him new goals. Jensen's choice to go oversees was to do with not getting buried on a roster because of how many NHLers were stuck in the AHL. LOL, the guy is entitled to his own opinion. He thinks Horvat will make it, you don't. He doesn't call you a retard and dumb, does he?

You would be stupid to believe that Jensen wouldn't have played in the AHL if he was eligible.
shinkaruk98
Nah man, I'd rather see him in the Memorial Cup facing other young guys like Monahan, Nurse, Rychel, Hartman, Faksa, McDavid. Maybe our own Gaunce. Some good guys in the CHL, OHL. Gaunce has a better chance, he is more suited for the 3rd line position aswell, if his role his to play safe and defensively then he will be our 3rd line center. Monahan will probably be in the NHL

stexx
it really is a tough call with horvat. He would benefit from playing in the NHL and he plays the type of game that would translate very well. However when you look at the opportunity he has in London this year probably captain, memorial cup, world juniors, chance to be one of the best players in the league and dominate it makes it tough to not send him back to gain that confidence and experience. DeNiro
Is that your opionion for any canucks prospect or just Horvat? Just Horvat. He's pretty much mastered the defensive side of the game in junior, but he still has his offensive game to develop further. Another season in junior will help him do that and give him the confidence he'll need to make the team next season. Forcing him into the NHL now could very well stunt his growth as a player. Scheifele is better than Horvat and he spent another two seasons in the OHL after he was drafted. And the jets aren't as deep as the Canucks are. That seemed to do him well since he looks like a much more complete player now ready to make an impact in the NHL. Off_The_Schneid!
Mark Schiefele played 7 nhl games the first season he was drafted and they decided he wasn't ready for the nhl. Why not give Horvat a few games early on to see what he's got? Horvat is built for the nhl, the kids a tank

Having Schroeder gives us the luxury to take our time with Horvat and make sure he develops the right way.

The Jets needed Scheifele to be a top 6 forward. Horvat will get some NHL regular season games if he proves he can play the 3C in pre-season. Horvat is built for the nhl, the kids a tank I was actually surprised when Scheifele got sent back down, he didn't produce anything but he looked pretty dangerous in the 2 or 3 games I saw of him with the Jets. He's going to be a good one.
Amish Rake Fighter
Right now I give Horvat a 62.5% chance of playing <9 games and a 20.5% of making the team full time this year.

Go Go Canucks Go
He's already played in two memorial cups, with him being a key player last season for the team. Is the memorial cup really that important for a player development?
Joel Heyman
Yes! Of course a Mem Cup run is important in player development, jesus, we're not the Islanders rushing every 1st rounder into the NHL. If we let him go back to the OHL (after a few games to give him a taste and so he knows what to work on more) he will have way more experience going into next season. Odds are he will be the Captain of London and he, along with Domi and McCaron, will be relied upon for the point production and shut down play. He would dominate the OHL this season and further develop his offensive game, would you rather he plugs around in the Canucks already full bottom six and gets maybe 25 points or goes and leads a team to a Memorial Cup win and has a 90+ pt season? We can afford to let him develop more and it will only do him good, hold your horses guys.

Is the memorial cup really that important for a player development? Well he still hasn't won it, so I would say he has unfinished business. Being the captain and going to a third straight memorial cup will be a great experience for him no doubt.
