Better fit, more competitive fire (at least at this point), and would not have cost them the ridiculous price they paid for Nash. That said, I like Motte - so I don't really care. I liked this deal when it happened - don't need to watch 3 preseason games - or 15 to end last season - to realize this was a good return on a Vanek rental - because Motte was not an unknown quantity - and people appear to have had absurd expectations of a Vanek rental deal. "Premature stupidity" is judging Motte as "soft", "nothing", "tiny", "brutal" etc (premature, uninformed judgement) that is riddled throughout this thread. Writing this player off before knowing a thing about them is precisely premature stupidity. There are no guarantees with any prospect (or pick) - and I sure as hell haven't offered you any. What you get with this player are better odds of an NHLer than a mid round pick, period. "Proof of greatness" is pure bullcrap that you alone originated.
