Doubt Demko would get us he 8th either. More importantly EDM won’t make a trade with anyone in their division that’s this big and vice versa. If we want to move up we need to be working with teams that aren’t in our conference or at the very least in the Central. To be fair, Edmonton was kinda peeved cause they offered a greater package for Schneider. Which I think included their 7th/8th overall pick. May need to add a 3rd rounder on our end to get it done. A top 10 pick in this draft has a lot of value. This deal limits their flexibility even more and hurts their future by moving out 8th overall without gaining the necessary cap space to make a move to really improve their team.
