[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on

Recommended Posts

Eriksson is going to get traded and have a good couple of months and people will be complaining about why we traded him, etc. Then he will fizzle out and people will stop complaining, but will have another seed planted in their heads about why Benning sucks. This is the same thing that happened after Gagner got traded.

CDC will be interesting if/when LE is traded.

I will be very happy if we can move him and just get rid of his 6m cap hit so we can give it to Boeser

We should just buy him out rather than take on another contract. Those 3 extra years of only half a million is nothing to save 2.5 million in year 3 (The year that matters). Who cares what his cap hit is for the first 2. Might even force JB to take it easy in FA and save the money for re-upping the young guys.

And that will come at a cost (picks/prospects) to move him at full cap relief. We don't need the cap space now, so I don't see the rush in forcing a move for cap reasons.

I would also be happy if we trade him for Neal. Play Neal for 2 years, if he comes back to form then great, if not buy him out then with very friendly terms.

Good Riddance to MopHead. He will be a 40pt plus player on his new team. Horrible contract signing and got hosed on the structure of the deal. I hope Jim Benning learned and doesnt go and make the same mistake again to someone like Myers or Gardiner etc

Ya gottq wonder over the years who are the big winners with FA because that year was a complete bust for every team in my books.Tavares didn't get the Leafs through to the second round to date...

bottom feeder teams like the high cap hit with lower actual $ that have to be paid out

most teams overpay. When i read an agent was hopeful the Canucks would be interested in his clients because he knows they pay more or add term that was scary..JB can't be a pushover, let our young core grow and we will get better then we can attract FA vs having to over pay in term and $

Trade him to a cap floor team with some retention for even just a late pick.

Anything but Lucic.

Corey Perry?

Funny enough. If we move Loui independently, I could see a nid level prospect to acquire Corey. He finished 2017/18 with 50 points. Just 1 year ago.

His contract expires before the expansion draft.

Okay and? So you want to pay the 2nd round pick and/or a prospect just to rid ourselves of him? Bottom feeder teams also want to gain cheap young talent because they would like to not become bottom feeders at some point.

With that said, the added element is that they also like the cap hit and not have to play the player so they can develop their own guys. That's why you see those teams taking on guys that are stuck on LTIR or retired with the cap penalty. Teams are lining up to take on bad players without a costly sweetener.

Tavares was not the problem with that team.

Where did I say he was a problem lol, I said with him they were unable to get beyond the first round.

You were talking about failed UFAs and then mentioned Tavares. Tavares so far has not been a failed UFA as he wasn't the problem for them not getting past the 1st round.

Are you a Bruins fan?

Tavares did finish third in the league for goals. He was a massive addition without giving up assets

A single player does not make a team a Cup contender. Tavares however was a big factor in getting them to the playoffs and wasn't the reason why they lost in the playoffs.

Their GM made other mistakes and didn't resolve the major issues with the team. The problem wasn't Tavares.

I also cheered for Boston to knock them out. But I also paid attention and realized Toronto's issues lied elsewhere and not because of Tavares.

I agree but all their fans thought he would put them over the edge...it didn't if anything it hurt them cause it affected Mathews contract...he didn't even take a discount to play for them...I rather have stammer at 8 mil. JT is a great player but leaf fans will look back and regret that contract....money they should have spent on D...
