I know people who are perfectly capable of working who gave been living for years off government subsidies. With the money they get for their kids and "disability", him and his wife will never have to work. I know them personally. He is more fit than I am. He pays less than $1000 a month for rent on a 3 bedroom condo, subsidised housing. And he uses government money to pay his rent

what percentage of people on assistance does he represent?

Capitalism is about freedom. Any 9 year old can play by those different rules if they work hard and apply themselves. “The corporations man” “tax the wealthy” are the things you say when you’ve lost at don’t have that balls to blame yourself.

The thing i find funniest about liberals is how they blame all their problems on the elite then turn around and trust the government to solve all the worlds problems with their tax dollars, Hahahahaha. It’s just so ridiculous.

@joe-max

It is ridiculous. You could say the same thing about conservatives blaming liberals for everything under the sun then expect the gubmint to solve these issues: abortion - laws don't work because criminals are going to break the law anyway - but we'll outlaw abortion because logic. Genius. Anyway, it is a rigged system for the elite - you have the freedom to attempt to become whatever you want but that's where it ends. This isn't even a debatable issue. It isn't a system that ultimately benefits the plebs; that ship sailed decades ago. It is a system that ultimately benefits the elite: the city of New York pandering to Bezos with tax exemptions and a private helipad. Let me known which small shop pleb business owner receives such perks. Or, try skimping on your taxes and watch how quick g-men come busting down your door. But if you're an elitist cocksucker who stuffs his taxes in an offshore haven - s'all good bro - because "capitalism and jobs."

The problem is... what's the line between tax avoidance and just tax minimization?

The ultra wealthy aren't necessarily having huge cashflow... just their assets are generating their wealth.  The problem with meddling with capital gains and dividend reimbursement, etc... it can only be applied universally, which obviously will hurt the less wealthier people entering their retirement age.

The problem with increasing taxes to corporations, they are very mobile.  All they got to do is register in another jurisdiction and suddenly they're no longer taxed by Canadian rates (a bit more complex than that, but that's the gist of it).  I'm not tax accounting expert, but it would open a whole can of worms to go after companies for just simply operating here.

Plus... did you know that people actually don't have to take any deductions when filing taxes?  If someone really wishes for taxes to be higher.... they can easily forego their tax refunds and help contribute to the "greater good".  If that doesn't make sense on a personal level, it makes as much sense business-wise.

They literally already do.  Stephen Harper created a nice healthy corporate tax cut, 2 years later a report showed that companies were hoarding more wealth than ever and not reinvesting at all.  To the tunes of hundreds of billions in assets, which was followed by the opening of reports on issues like Ireland, Zug and more.  Where corporations were effectively using empty buildings in tax free areas to claim their earnings.  resulting in nonsense like GE paying no taxes, but receiving billions in tax returns.

The problem with thought processes like this is people and parliament are effectively saying why change anything

Probably because this is bs not fact. Vietnam--LBJ(democrat) Syria--Obama(democrat)

Syria was a main driver in the migrant crisis and you blame the right.

US bombed Iraq and Afghanistan for years.  Interceded in Libya, Yemen, numerous other nations in the ME as Africa.  This resulted in people moving to neighbouring nations, which then got bombed, which moved the mass on and on and on and on.  Syria was literally a drop in the bucket for an already mobile migration of almost 3 millions displaced over 11 years.

As for Vietnam....it started in 1955...thats Eisenhower.  It ended in 75, that's Nixon.  It had JFK who was trying to pull out before he got shot, and then LBJ who was so weak he did what he was told

Unfortunately, there isn't much the Canadian government can do about that.  Companies will move to places with lower taxes... so unless every single jurisdiction in the world has a uniform rate, there really isn't much anyone can do in regards to large companies.

Any changes in corporate tax rates primarily just affects the smaller companies and those with personal investment corporate accounts which doesn't do anyone any good.

The tax books are already the same size as telephone books... so implementing new rules will just make it even more difficult.  The wealthy will always have the best accounts and lawyers to make sure they pay the least.  It's the regular folks that take the brunt of it.

But it doesn't really matter in the end... revenue is never an issue when it come to government budgets, it's always on the expenditure side of things.  Unfortunately, focusing on revenue will earn votes, but targeting expenses will cost votes.

You said a Pride Parade is = to a day at the beach. That is completely wrong as I have proven in earlier posts, which you choose to cherry pick and ignore.

Did I say that?

You said the ludicrous falsehood that the right starts wars and left deals with them. Simply not true as evidence shows. The US foreign policy is unified. Just about the only thing Fox News, CNN and MSNBC agree on is foreign policy.

Shhh.  Nobody is talking to you and your ludicrous holier than thou nonsense.  I put you on ignore a long time ago when you outright ignored basic fact over your own worthless opinion.

Stop responding to me because I could care less about anything you might have to say about anything.  You've outed yourself and been an utter hypocrite every other day and I don't have any desire to hear from you

But for the record, yes, the bulk of the US wars and conflicts started since WW2 have been done by and at the hand of republican governance.  That is an immutable fact.  3 of the 4 conflicts the US was embroiled in during his time in office were started under Bush no Obama, again an immutable fact.  Obama is very guilty of pursuing and carrying on those conflicts but to say he caused it shows how stupid a person is to blame new management for problems caused by old management.

Now again, I put you on ignore, I care two randy sharts what you might ever have to say about anything you saucy muppet now shove off.

As I showed earlier.  Small to medium sized employers employ far more Canadians/Americas and pay for better average wages with benefits.  This constant "job creator" nonsense is a fallacy and has been since the advent of trickle down economics.

We need to move away from systems that continue to plague us because we are fed the belief that if we just give a little more to those who have the most they'll return the favour.

not sure, why not find out?

the social assistance numbers are out there to be found - most of it is people that really do need help. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/social-assistance/reports/statistical-2009-2013.html

People with disabilities really get screwed on the system tho, I know a guy who is a quad who can work about 15-20 hours per week (thats his physical max) but if he does his assistance gets cut to the point where he's making less working than doing nothing. I think more than looking for scammers we should be finding ways to help people like him out.

Says the guy exposed for leftist nonsense every damn day and who went MIA when his questions were answered. But yes I realize, you are a leftist. Like leftists globally, you do the whole smear, run and censor act. New flash buddy, we who actually put commies in power know the leftist game, this is by you run away from us.

This immutable fact does not support a totalitarian statement of ‘ right starts wars, left deals with them’. Left also starts wars and is quite happy to continue them.

Hahahahaha. Obama is culpable of continuing the war over eight years, promising victory. He was the next baton holder, like in a relay race. It’s okay, little fragile one, go hide in your leftist echo chamber and I will continue to expose your nonsense as nonsense for others to see.

As a matter of fact, regarding the migration crisis and conflicts that the US has become engaged in.

Just look at who was president when the conflicts started vs who was president while they were carried on or ended.  This means conflicts, not UN actions I might add.  Which is to say, peacekeeping or security.  Unlike Libya which was simply an invasion via NATO and was 100% the fault of the US government and Obama

The migrant crisis started in the mid 2000's and became almost uncontrollable by the mid to late 2010's and was absolutely a direct result of bombing nations which while troubled were not really a threat outside of their own borders.  Resulting in break away terror groups and massive issues with militant islamists, not to mention a massive humanitarian crisis which saw literally millions of people on the move at once.

Lol. We cannot move away from capitalism because it is still way way better than full scale socialism. Socialized economies do not work without capitalist engine underlay, world has proved that over and over and over again. We don’t need to move away from the best solution, even if it’s not a perfect solution. For the simple fact that capitalism enriches the masses, not just the ultra rich and socialism makes everyone poor. Capitalism has raised more people out of poverty than socialism by few orders of magnitude.

Both - that is stupid system that penalizes the guy you know but funding for him can come in part from scammers.
