Benning says that Gaudette has never played wing and they want to develop him as a C - he was asked last year.

Okay but I’m not sure how is making the team as a C this year. Putting him with Petey for 1 pre season game to see what happens doesn’t mean he won’t develop as a C

Ahhh yes putting goldy in a position to succeed with *checks notes* Utica-bound grinders? Not sure about this one chief.

Also, what does a guy have to do to see Gaudette get a look on Petey’s rw????

Goldy is not going to be in the top 6 opening night. He needs to show he can drive play no matter what line he’s on. Putting him with Pettersson and having him pick up two gimme helpers proves nothing.

Also in no situation will Gaudette be playing with Pettersson in the regular season. (Unless he gets rewarded with PP time). Green is looking for combos he can use in the regular season.

Both Adam and Jake are playing their 6th preseason game.... for 2 diffrent reasons. Wow.

Good job Adam.... you may just force their hand despite waver status.

If their mind was made up you wouldn't be playing so much

Jake is playing so he can get into better condition.  I'm still struggling with the notion Jake showed up to another camp overweight!

Had a few good dangles last night too, kinda reminiscent of the first few games he played for us after we aquired him from SJ.

Also saw Goldy our on a long shift put his head down and push hard to our zone to play defense and helped work the puck out. He didn’t run the the bench whatsoever.

Will Goldy get claimed?  Will Loui or Schaller get claimed?  If sending Hockey Gaud to the minors is asset management, then wouldn't keeping Goldy, and sending Loui and Schaller be asset management too?  Those two guys have zero chance of being claimed.

I agree with you Alf. It’scatch-22 at this point. Motte though is worth keeping up. Tim and Loui are worth demoting though based on coach Greene today he likes loui so far this preseason based on his comments. Tim brings nothing we don’t have imo. He’s first to go.

Loui will help reduce our goals against a bit since he is a good defensive forward. If it wasn’t for his cap hit people would be fine with him on the roster.

My biggest issue with him is who’s spot will he be taking on the roster and can that player bring just as much?

So, with Green saying Goldobin has had a quiet training camp/preseason, what does that actually mean?

Will he be traded?

I don't see any other solution. He can't be waived and he's not good enough to play on the team.

Was that after last nights game? Cause he definitely made some really good plays.

Goldy can be waived, but he will likely get claimed by more than one team.  If there is a trade to be made for him, I would expect it would be to a team that is lower on the waiver wire.  I don't think his value would be more than a later round pick though.

You bet.  It’s ok if we lose a player to waivers - it’s not the end of the world - TG is going to keep and play the guys he feels will help the team win the most games.  It’s not easy to trade a fringe player with modest upside at this time of year when every team has their own guys they are trying to slip through.  AG had made a good case to stay up this preseason - if he has another good game he’s going to make the opening night roster.   JV might be on the trading block too...but they might also wait for a month or at least a couple of weeks to pull the trigger.  Schaller is waived for sure, not sure who else, maybe Motte, maybe LE but I doubt it.   Goldobin doesn’t have much to prove in the AHL anymore but that could be where he’s headed anyways.   It’s a sign that our team is getting better.   Personally I hope AG makes the team (he’d play wing no doubt - at least until Sutter is traded) if he keeps it up we could have sleeper on our hands / nice to have a pleasant surprise like that - he’s obviously put the training time in this summer.

You bet.  Our fourth line is an expensive one but it sure gets the job done.  Who’s the better player LE or Motte - or who’s play makes more of a difference?  LE for sure even though Mottes energy is great.

Even better whos play helps the team more AG or Motte?  Right now it’s AG.  No slight on Motte he’s a great fourth liner and depth guy.   But the teams better now ...

plus his contract year. If there was a time to show everything you've got this is it.

Jake is not a highly competitive person.  Even a contract year is not stimulating him.  I don't understand his lack of passion for winning.

Interesting that Motte only had 2 less goals than Eriksson last season. However that was probably more due to injuries.

At 24 though I don’t think Green wants to give up on Motter, especially with his cheap cap hit and high energy role he brings.

At the end of the day this team needs more goals. I gotta think that Loui is due for 1 good season here. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get back to being a 20 goal scorer this season. This team needs that.

I think Motte stays though, Green likes him too much.

I meant to say he can't be waived because he'll be claimed. I don't think the Canucks want to lose him for nothing, so maybe they'll trade him?

When we qualified him part of me thought right then and there that they were just thanking him for his services in a way and giving him one more opportunity to earn a spot.   I’m sure they’ve done their best to find a trade for him but at the end of the day if he gets waived he’s likely getting another chance on a different team.   If he gets waived nobody was willing to give up anything for him - they know that they can probably get him for free...who knows what the team will decide - but if he goes it’s ok.

He came in last saying he wanted to be that frustrating player to play against. he needs to get back to his roots, forget about scoring, fore-check like hell, drive to the net,  and get under everyone's nerves.

That's the JV people want to see, so here's hoping for some signs tonight.

Jake is so bloody fast for such a big guy, he could really be a tremendous thorn in the other teams' side.  He's be a great rat.  Maybe he needs to eat more cheese?  (Not Cheesies)
