BPA
5 hours ago, Ryan Strome said: So far I can agree. Are you going to force private companies to sell at a discount? Depends on the formula used. When oil prices are up...then it'll be a loss for Private companies. When oil prices are down (like now)...then it'll be like a gain. Win some, lose some. Not attractive but it'll be steady revenue. So like I suggested before to you what if selling at a discount to Canadians is recouped via Ottawa returning it's royalties back to companies? No company is going to sell their product at a discount, they will just close up shop. So how do we compensate the loss for Canadian sales? Again imo best case scenario is Ottawa gives up it's royalties. Let's be real, the consumer still wins, Alberta likely ends up transferring more money through equalization so in reality would it even hurt Ottawa that much? Canadian consumers win and Albertans win.
Warhippy
AIMco just lost over $4 billion dollars. For those wondering, that's the Alberta Investment Management Corp. Here is what they maintain and manage. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/alberta-investment-management-corporation-aimco.asp This is just starting to get ugly and tomorrow doesn't look to be better as some announcements regarding storage capacity are expected to hit the markets

How many times have we literally screamed how equalization payments are derived? Only to hear immediately after "educate yourself" or "Alberta does more than everyone else" or one of my favourites "if we could get back $20 billion, $650 billion" You'll never hear a thanks because the cognitive dissonance is strong it's deafening. HI5
Quote Why WTI Crude Oil traded at minus -$37 Imagine the following...you pay $500 today and commit to receiving an escort at your house in 15 days. Cos your wife is traveling. This is called a futures contract. Unfortunately, lockdown came and your wife will be home for the next 60 days. You do not want this woman to show up at your house at all and try to pass this futures contract to someone else. Only you cannot sell this commitment because nobody can receive the escort at home anymore. Everyone is in full storage (their balls) with wife. To make matters worse, not even the pimp (Chicago Mercantile exchange) has more room to receive girls because his house is crowded with girls. So you will pay anyone just to take the girl off your hands. Do you now understand why oil has a negative price when the contract is delivered?
