How does asking common sense questions about a number posted on Twitter which is not properly contextualized have anything to do with family?   Please explain.

That’s the tone deaf part bud.

Without testing you cannot get an accurate understanding of it though.  Many places seem to prefer managing the virus without proper data.

That's the danger though with Texas.  Opening things up without getting a reliable idea of what really is happening.  Easier to 'close the door' before the problem comes in vs 'closing the door' afterwards.  They don't know for sure either way right now imho.  Unnecessary gamble.

I have been to Texas numerous times.  The born and raised there are pretty hardcore about not liking gov't in their lives.  Remember the big flooding of Houston in 18 - that was ultimately attributed to minimal city planning over the past few decades during its large growth.

Isn't that what we just had? Isn't that why we are quarantining? Then the flu season ends and it can't live as long in warm dry conditions.

Assumptions so far. No one knows until we know.

Look at the history of Nepomuceno Seguin - a Tejanos who played a big role in the independence of Texas from Mexico.  Ended up often loathed by both sides (Mexico & non-Tejanos in Texas).  Mexico because of his role in freeing Texas from Mexico and non-Tejanos because they thought he was actually aiding Mexico (that's IN SPITE of his role in the independence of Texas) and the distrust of Tejanos (again, in spite of them fighting FOR the independenc of Texas from Mexico).  A huge state (as big as many countries) with an interesting history.

Let's use the Titanic as an example.

Easier to slow down and keep a sharp watch for icebergs. Or stop altogether and wait until first light.

Than it is going full speed hoping your lookouts will spot an iceberg in time.

Especially in an age without radar, sonar, GPS, etc.

Or your lookouts don't even have a set of binoculars. And you've been warned of an ice field in your path.

How does discounting the infection rates of those in care homes..... make any sense..... ?

Every life matters.  Every one infected is loved by family and friends no matter their age and current health condition.

Legitimate question. Just where are you coming from?

Answering with questions is how you usually go about getting clarification on something.  It is a good skill to have.  And is especially important when the other person doesn't make much sense.

Ok...so why exactly are you asking questions?

There is a book called How to Lie with Statistics written in 1954.  How to lie with Charts was published this year and it looks more at misleading visual information.  In neither of those books does it say you must share family details before raising questions about stats and numbers.  So no not a legitimate question.

how about reading the exchange between me and the OP - that will answer your questions.  We were talking and if you read it you will see it was very civilized.

That’s a matter of opinion.

Quebec schools back May 11.

  No masks provided for teachers...

Shame on you Quebec.   Teachers there should refuse to report without proper PPE.

“Our experts from public health tell us it’s not necessary,” Roberge said. “So we are not going to start supplying equipment if our experts tell us it’s not necessary.

Quebec’s decision contrasts that of a country such as France, which is requiring teachers to wear masks supplied by the government.

Yes and unfortunately some get soooo old.

What I do in that situation is just scroll over them and definitely don't respond to them.  You can also use the block out.  I have never done that though.
