This new management group will not sign old guys to fill roles that block our prospects.  Rathbone will be given every chance to earn a spot on the club.

you sure about that..? We picked up Richardson to play 17 meaningless games when we could have called up a prospect or one of our AHLers who worked their butts off.

AHL guys were fighting for the playoffs too.

But they had just dumped Motte and still did not have a credible right hand center for the bottom two lines.

Richie also is a great guy who provided leadership and reliability to the younger guys on the bottom six.

Too expensive and violently overrated here. People can rip on Hunt all they want but Stecher was not much better than him.

Stecher wasn't a top 4, but he's serviceable on the bottom pairing.  He's far less of a liability than Hunt who has no business wasting icetime in the NHL for any reason.

Hunt was great for us this last year. He's your versions of EVs hate for Boeser.

Yet Stecher for the most part looked like a deer in the headlights in his own zone…

And at no point has he shown any sign that he could handle that level, even in an emergency.  Just hoping we don't replace this useless pylon with another defenceman who can't play defence.

Quit yakking and get out there and find PA an NHL defenseman from the beer league of your choice. You do realize that many 1st round draft picks don't crack NHL rosters, so how in hell do you expect a beer leaguer to do the same? Brad Hunt must be a pretty good pylon by your logic.

Bruce enjoyed deploying Hunt but I think he'll adapt to using Rathbone in the same light and having Schenn or Dermott on the bottom pairing. Much improved compared to Burroughs and Hunt.

Plus we had injuries on d last year and covid

Brad Hunt and Nic Petan are going to "test free agency?" I imagine it'll be a short test. Isn't this wording we use for people we wanna bring back but they wanna see what they can get in free agency? I guess maybe we have interest in an AHL contract for em and for whatever reason they believe they have NHL pedigree. Either way, good luck to them.

The problem wasn't offensively, it was the fact that his defensive play was simply not acceptable.

-3 in 50 games for a 3rd pairing defenseman on a team out of the playoffs is not nearly as bad as you make him out to be.

He's definitely replaceable but he was and is an NHL caliber 6/7 defenseman.

My point is that Brad Hunt has no business cracking an NHL roster.  We've seen the results and it was an unmitigated disaster.

Who will and should get a call from an NHL club for that role.

No one if happier than Heffy on this one haha. Cheers man.

I'll take some of that. Especially seeing that one shift where Hunt literally followed that guy skating circles in our zone, that was bizarre. Hit him for goodness sakes.

You've, fixed that for you.

You watched the games as well.  We'll agree to disagree if you think allowing that pylon to disgrace the franchise every shift he took was acceptable.  Bottom line is that he's gone and the team is better as a result.
