Those guys are all pulling their weight, relative to what they're making.

A good chunk of our defense is definitely not. Unfortunately.

OEL is making over $10M USD this year. Could you imagine if he actually was the #1 top D man he was getting paid to be?
That in itself would make a massive difference right now.

You complaint was regarding cap space was it not?

JR has spent over $14 mill of cap space. So if JR's hands are tied- he did a large part of that to, and by himself.

Miller is not pulling his weight.

Mikheyev has been injured, so not pulling his weight, but also not to blame

Kuzmenko has been ok.

Dakota has been meh.

Aman has been ok.

Not a complaint. Just an (obvious) observation.

The difference between Benning's and Allvin's spending is that Benning way overspent on players.
If Allvin's done that I must have missed it?

It's too bad Rathbone hasn't been showcased to this point yet. Considering the Canucks have no trust in Rathbone right now, it's sort of a bummer that he was considered too high a price to give up in the offseason when they were rumoured to be in talks for Marino.

Yeah, definitely.

One nice thing though about having literally all the available bottom pairing defensemen on our roster, is if we do go out and get some upgrades, we can bury these contracts for barely any cap hit.

1. Poolman can be bought out and only 1m/year cap hit would remain

2. Stillman could be waived and nearly 0 cap hit would remain if unclaimed

3. Dermott could be waived and only 500k would remain if unclaimed

I do think JR/PA have a strategy this season. They know the real strength this team has is an obscene amount of offensive depth. Picking up Kuz and Mik in the offseason only bolstered that further.

Now that all the UFAs have been picked over and there's no talented scorers available to sign, our forwards are actually valuable as trade assets, and we can make a deal with a team that is struggling to score goals. We might have to wait until game 15-20 to really see who those teams are that are going to need help this year on offense.

But I'd be shocked if we make it to game 25 without a forward going out, and a defenseman coming in.

Prove to me you want it Canucks.

Talks cheap, that is all you seem to do these days. How about back your words up with showing effort for a full 60, mental fortitude, and defensive awareness?

60 minutes is a really really long time. It’s also be a long time since it has happened.

I would love to see that.

Which NHL team is giving up a top 4 D for one of those guys?

Agree that type of hockey trade is unlikely. It's about gaining most value for our guys ( picks and prospects ) and using that as currency to buy defenders. It just opens up any trade scenario with any team willing to sell D vs trying to swap a winger who is only valued by select franchises... all of which probably don't have the D we need haha

Over a point per game average since he came here 3 years ago. Better than any other roster player.
He's earned it and will be fine.

How about this year? still all good. despite being on the ice for 8 goals against?
