[Trade] Red Wings trade Filip Hronek, 2023 4th-round pick to Canucks for conditional 2023 1st-round pick (NYI), 2023 2nd-round pick

Recommended Posts

we need RHD we got RHD, did we overpay a bit ? Perhaps just NYI 1st straight up should be enough, but I am not loosing my sleep over 2nd for 4th round swap. We get 25 year old player, I think if we combine all trades this TDL, its a strong B+ for our management.

So will retooling and winning just enough.

And more logos on the sweaters.

hah. isn't that the truth, but wouldn't this fan base just become more and more disillusioned with the state of the team?

Bedard is a Vancouver boy and wants to be a Canuck. I can only hope some dark magic is worked to ensure the lottery goes in our favor.

We're not getting him at the start of his career. It's not to say that he wouldn't want to come home one day, perhaps as a UFA?

He will be too expensive by the time he's a UFA

Top 4 pairing shutdown D- men are hard to get as well.

That's why the Marino's, Peeke's and Tanev's are coveted players.

It's seems like the junior systems are focusing on puck moving than pure defensive roles

Marino is a defensive defenseman? I thought he was always more offensive.

Tanev was the one that got away, should've traded him when the time was right to. Management at that time failed in that as well.

well, he wants to be a Canuck right? Home town discount to play at home and put on that jersey.

stranger things have happened.

Cap is supposed to go up as well, so who knows, maybe we can afford him at that time. Won't be for a few years, though, so kinda a moot point.

By this I mean strategic financial decisions done in the best interest of a successful business.

and these guys could have all been Canucks.

Now they won't be.

This move for Hronek isn't a long term move, it's a short sighted move for sure.

Wich one of those three are better than Hronak and more important, wich of them is better the next three years?

A superstar has the potential to apply a finite amount of pressure.

Nah his is more of a defensive specialist.

That's why posters wanted him as a partner for Hughes.

Ah, I see.

So wait, is Hronek an offensive defenseman, or a defensive one? Because if he's an offensive dman, that doesn't make too much sense to pair him with Hughes.

He is shaping up as an offensive D- man.

Just breaking out this year

Hopefully he is our second paring offensive RHD.

He gave the trade an A+.  His logic is pretty good as well.  Some people are trying to look at this trade in one part.  However, it was really a two-part trade.  The Canucks couldn't trade Horvat straight up for a top 4 RHD, or at least one that they wanted.  So, they went out and got the best trade they could for Horvat, which involved mostly futures.  However, the objective was always to get that RHD.  So, they flipped some of the assets they got from the Horvat deal to get the RHD that they coveted.

Horvat and a 2nd for Hronek, Beauvillier, Raty and a 4th is a home run trade.  An A+.  Only the ones who want a full rebuild don't see it that way.  JR was never going to rebuild.  it was always going to be a retool.  The Horvat trade fooled alot of people into thinking JR was gonna rebuild, which is unfortunate.  The cat is out of the bag now.  Looking forward to all of the next moves now...

That makes a lot of sense. I guess the loss of a 1st still stings, but if people looked at it through the lens of a retool, then the trade makes sense. If fans are looking the trade through the lens of a rebuild, then this trade infuriates so many.

Fans want a rebuild. Management is moving towards a retool.

That's where some media and fans are upset. They're wanting one thing, and hoping that management will do what they want. But management is firm and hard on a retool. It is what it is. I'm looking forward to the moves that Allvin and management is probably looking to do. Miller and Brock on the move today?
