No this is not 2 week old news, everyone expected O'Reilly to be re-signed in Colorado by now. Also, according to insider trading, asking price is a roster player + top prospect

Lack won't be traded. Who's gonna back up Schneider when Luongo is traded?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I don't know if there is a big enough 'No!' for how I feel about your proposal.

Booth and change for O'Reilly I'd entertain but not a high pick, not Lack, and most certainly not both of them.

I usually agree with you TM but if MG got a deal like this done, it would be a steal. O'Reilly is a special player, man.

They just gave up a 1st (Forsberg) and a 2nd for Varlamov. He's young and good. I don't believe the Avs would be looking for a golie in return.

O'Reilly sure would look great in a Canucks jersey.

I wonder if Booth and KCon would do it?

You know me, I love his underlying stats, but saying it will be a steal is a bit much. We don't have enough of an embarassment of riches to give up so much depth in the system.

He seems to be asking for $4.5 mil per over a considerable amount of years and I would question his role on the team. As a 3rd line centre he is perfect, as a 2nd liner he is still excellent, but we already have one.

While O'Reilly is good we don't need him; unless we are willing to part with Kesler on a NTC. No point bringing on another top 6 centre when we don't have a spot for him.

Plenty of teams in the east that have the assets and desire to get him.

- Toronto
- Winnipeg
- New Jersey
- Washington
- Islanders
- Florida

You are bang on with Florida. If Weiss is not re-signed, then they could make a pitch. Washington, on the other hand, I would think would be very interested. Ribeiro is a UFA after this season. I like him and think he fits in well in Washington, he can also get a lot more money once he hits the open market. Honestly, I can Winnipeg making a push for him. Antropov will not be re-signed, Jokinen will only have 1 more year left on his contract, and Scheifle will be switching between 2nd and 3rd line duty. They have the need and the cap space to get Ribeiro and/or O'Reilly.

Edler, Markstrom, Hansen, 2nd round pick 2014 to Islanders for Ryan Strome, 5th overall pick 2014

This is fairly even as well.

Restricted free agent forward Ryan O'Reilly might have played his last game with the Colorado Avalanche after failing to agree to a new contract with the team thus far.

Speaking on Insider Trading on Tuesday night, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger said that according to sources, the Avalanche have already started trade discussions with Eastern Conference teams.

Dreger added that the expected return that Colorado would want in a trade would be a roster player and a top prospect.

Dreger and fellow TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie further explored the 22-year-old's future with the club.

McKenzie asked both the Avalanche and O'Reilly's representatives about rumours that the forward asked to be moved, but both sides decided to neither reject nor confirm the reports.

The contract impasse stemmed from the fact that the Avs wanted O'Reilly to take the same deal that Matt Duchene took, a two year deal worth a total of $7 million. The club also offered O'Reilly a five-year deal worth $17 million. The forward and his camp reportedly want to be paid based on how he played last year.

O'Reilly played in 81 games with the Avs in 2011-12, and scored 18 goals and 37 assists.

Personally, I hope he gets traded to Florida so Nick Bjustad becomes a little more expendable

I think Bjustad coming here is more likely than O'reilly. Or maybe I'm over estimating the inter division factor

"O'Reilly trade talk heating up. Strong interest from the east, but if the Avs don't get the right deal, plan is hold firm and O'Reilly sits"

Ok, I'll assume he is heading east, and the acquiring team needs pick. Everyone is talking CBJ, but they are in the west.

How about Montreal maybe? They have several 2nd rounders including CGY 2nd round pick.
Eller + CGY 2nd? for O'Reilly? Not sure if this is fair or not, haven't watched any Montreal games lately.
