D-Money
With all the attention on Kesler and Booth's returns, Raymond's improved play, Schroeder's unveiling, and Malhotra's banishment, it seems nobody is talking about how well Chris Higgins is playing. Higgins is tied for 16th in takeaways among forwards, with 15. However, he gets far less icetime than most of the others in this category. If you break down the number of minutes played per takeaway, and compare with other players known for their defensive abilities, this is how it looks: Minutes Played Per Takeaway Toews - 15.4 E.Staal - 17.6 Hossa - 17.3 Higgins - 18.6 Duchesne - 20.2 Datsyuk - 20.2 Malkin - 21.8 Elias - 23.8 Among the top-30 forwards in takeaways, Higgins' 31 hits are the highest of the bunch. Also, his 4 giveaways are 2nd lowest in this group - only Frolik has (one) less. All of this while playing with a revolving door of linemates. Avicii
I wasn't fond at all about how he was playing the first couple of games, glad to see he's starting to pick it up. Most GWG in our SCF run, need him to get hot at the right time when we need secondary scoring the most.
PlayStation
Yep, like I've said many times, he was our most consistent player last season, I'd put him on the 2nd ahead of Booth, he seems to play well anywhere.
Peaches
I always knew Higgins was good at takeaways, but I didn't realize he was among the leagues best.
Zoolander
Nice thread! Higgins deserves way more respect
Jägermeister
One of the better 3rd liners in the league. He rarely makes mistakes, and even when he isn't producing points-wise, he is still getting things done on the ice.
DarthMelvin
I wouldn't say under rated but I would say that Higgs is finally coming into his own and knowing the game. I like his play.
Bang Bang Boogie
Higgins is probably the Canuck I am least worried about. He is extremely solid defensively, underrated offensively and plays his physical when he has to. Plus, he always turns it up in the playoffs. higgyfan
He needs to stay as our 3rd line left winger, no matter what happens with the 2nd and 4th lines. He is such a well-rounded player and really does give it 'his all'. Some way, MG will get the 2nd line RW player the team needs and then Higgs can be on the 3rd line with Schroeder and Hansen/Kass. Down by the River
Always nice to see a thread that (a) promotes a player (b ) doesn't use the promotion of player 'A' to chastise player 'B', and © uses stats to back up their argument. +
RyanKeslord17
Higgins is the perfect 3rd liner
Smashian Kassian
Yeah. A very very very good 3rd liner who can move into the 2nd when needed, I would still prefer he and Hansen in 3rd line roles myself, that's where they really shine. greenbean30
One of my favourite players on the team. Always trying hard, great defensively and is good in the offensive zone also. I liked him before the Nucks picked him up and was ecstatic when we traded for him.
apollo
Definitely under rated. Interesting stat ... would have never guessed. Thank god we have one under rated guy but doesn't balance out all the over rated ones on defense lol
BurrsArrows
Definitely picked up his game, overrated for sure did not know he was in the top of the league for takeaways!

406281dylan
I love Higgins and Lapierre, I think the day we aquired both of them is a day to remember in canucks history.
UFTcan
Higgins is ok, but i think we have alot of players just like him who do just enough, to stay in coaches good grace, but lack any real impact on a nightly basis. He is what he is.
roland
I liked Higgins ever since we acquired him. Always gives 110% every game and shift.
