Most likely a torn ACL/MCL

but what was mentioned earlier in the thread I don't think it is protocol to remove all contents from the locker room due to an injury so there may be something else going on but who knows

didnt AV said it was his ankle?

He was creating a lot of chances. Just didn't have the finish or luck on his side.

Are you talking about Steve Bernier?

Untouchables: Tanev, Jensen, Kassian
Mostly untouchable: Sedins (need someone to man the fort and no trade value)
Open to trade: Everyone else
Drive to airport: Bieksa, Edler

the training staff updates him on it. he relies on their input for those things. pretty big difference between knee and ankle, and the media said ankle as well.

You guys are rediculous - Booth was one of our best players in the few games he played. Generated more chances than anyone except for the Sedins. The only thing he wasn't doing was finishing his chances, and that's because he came into the season rusty, without any practices, training camp or even games.

Booth was hitting hard and driving hard to the net. This sort of player is invaluable, especially in the playoffs. We NEED this guy back for the post-season or we aren't going far. Big strong powerforwards like Booth are rare and they win Cups, just look at Horton, Lucic, Richards and Carter. He is that exact player and he can be a game changer. Look at the Kings forwards - Carter and Richards had a brutal regular season, but exploded in the playoffs. Booth is capable of that.

As for his injury, don't call him fragile. That was an unlucky twist on his knee because he was going into the boards hard for the puck. Would have happened to anyone who fights that hard for the puck. Hopefully it wasn't a break or ligament damage.

Serious question: Do you think Booth is more upset he can't play hockey for awhile, or more upset he can't kill unarmed animals just out for a walk?

Not that I want to be a Debbie Downer, but have you checked the standings lately?

I know the numbers don't show it but he was trying pretty damn hard out there. He was like Hansen out there every game and its too bad he just couldn't finish.

Don't forget Buffalo gave a guy like Leino 4.5 million dollars. There's always teams out there that are desperate enough to take a chance on players.

Booth can still be traded, and for a team needing to reach the cap floor, a contract that you won't have to pay for for the rest of the season might be attractive.

That doesn't really make sense. Leino was a UFA so was likely to get overpaid and he hasn't lived up to his contract. A team wanting Booth would have to trade assets for him, so it's not just about the contract.

And they wouldn't have to pay him while he's injured, true, but there isn't really anyone right now that needs to reach the cap floor. That might change if a team moves a pricey contract to a team looking for a rental, but then I'm not so sure they'd want someone like Booth who still has two more years on his deal at a salary higher than his cap hit.

Outside of generating at least a power play per game, hitting, and generating chances ...

Oh, wait, that's more than what half our team does ...

I for one do not want to see Booth traded, let alone bought out, which I think is ludicrous to contemplate. Everything about this guy's play screams positive minus the finish, and all signs point to luck bouncing his way. If this guy ever puts together a healthy season the ice will tilt his way guaranteed, and I'd be happy to take a chance on another season and that happening.

Booth out indefinitely as per press conference with "ankle sprain". Really?

Probably the highest paid empty net goal scorer in the league this year. If he werent injured, he would probably be highly coveted at the trade deadline. What team wouldn't want a guy with a 4.25 million cap hit who does all the right things except score. He could have netted us at least a first and second rounder in return.

Ankle sprain but out indefinitely? Interesting.

Not really a surprise.

If it's just an everyday sprained ankle, it's still anywhere from 3-6 weeks for recovery (without complications).

EDIT: Probably bad choice of words there. An "everyday sprained ankle" doesn't really take much time at all (and in some cases it's better to play through the recovery, after maybe a few days off to reduce pain and swelling). What I meant was a serious sprain to the area usually thought of when we talk about a "sprained ankle" and that type of injury could mean 3+ weeks of recovery. /EDIT

But if it's a high ankle sprain (Syndesmosis sprain), which is what it looked like initially and what had been widely speculated, then the recovery can be 6-10 weeks. Typically, high ankle sprains in hockey players take an average of "46-48 days" (again, without complications or setbacks): http://www.thestar.c..._armstrong.html

That was a $4.25 million dollar empty net goal the other night
