I think it may be Feaster doing Iggy a favour ... Iggy is in the twilight of his career and he sent him to a contender. Give him a shot at winning the Cup. Kind of like what Dallas did with Morrow. Don't pee on Feaster, it was a classy act.

Feaster is a moron, he shouldn't be an NHL gm. First he royally screws up with O'Reilly, and now he trades Iginla for a horrible return. It's a great day to be a flames fan.

I still can't get over the fact thier building sells out game after game. Why improve the product on the ice, people keep coming. Either they have more money than brains or they're simply not smart. I didn't think things could be more screwed up when Sutter was there but I'm wrong, Feaster is even worse.
And people are on Gillis' back.

You drive a hard bargain Feaster
(Chiarelli laughs out loud).

Its unbelievable to think that Chiarelli gave up more to get Kaberle  And LA gave up just as much if not more to get Penner  x2

Feaster is an idiot. They needed to move Iginla for youth, but he picked up a lovely pile of "meh" in return. Well done.

And BTM was complaining about MG. Lmao, so glad we have a competent GM.

meh the Kovalchuk trade a few years back was just as bad for Atlanta and Kovalchuk is better than Iginla. Plus why is everyone pissed? It's the Flames! We're supposed to hate the Lames. Glad they got fleeced.

It looks like it might not be done yet.....Calgary fans better hope that Feaster was smart enough to leak the potential trade to gauge reaction before pulling the trigger. Now that it shows he is a complete moron rework that crap!

The story I heard was Iginla will probably resign with Calgary as his family likes it there. Too much for a rent a player.

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

It's apparently a conditional 1st round pick... :picard:

I said this would happen.

If Iginla is a rental, then 2 prospects are all he's going to fetch back. Remember, there's nothing stopping Iggy from bolting back to Calgary when the season ends.

If he does go back to the Flames, the Flames will have 2 more decent prospects and will have lost virtually nothing.

However, Iggy could also sign with another team, in which case the Flames would have gotten the short end of the stick.

What are you talking about? The Flames are one of the teams that gets good value contracts

Ah thats a little sad! I think they could've gotten more for him....

I have a feeling we'll be saying the same when Luongo gets traded.

we could have offered Jensen, Gaunce, Tanev and a 1st and Calgary still would't trade him to us.

Why not? Its not like the trade will make Calgary a contender this year. Iggy is a rental player. Calgary would be stupid to not agree to the trade you propose.

Because a Stanley Cup Contender just got even stronger. Calgary is gonna suck regardless if they have Iginla or not. Even if we made it through the West in the playoffs we would get killed by the Penguins/Bruins as it stands right now.

Seems everyone forgot Iginla gave a list of only 4 teams he'd waive to go to, that severely limits bargaining power, as well as his pending free agency status. That being said, if the pick is conditional, that's a bad news for Calgary

Really? This has been talked about all week. Every day there has been rumours of Iginla/Boston talks. I would have been surprised if he went anywhere else.

(Was being sarcastic :) )

Khokhlachev isnt getting the respect he deserves here, he is a stud

http://www.hockeysfu...er_khokhlachev/

Not defending Feaster's dismal return, but Khokhlachev is a solid piece

Yeah I agree, Craig Button was too harsh. Not a bluechipper but still a solid prospect.

Feaster should be fired on the spot.

Alexander Khokhlachev is a great addition but seriously a Conditional 1st :picard:

Jay Feaster is definitely the worst GM in the league. Be thankful that we have Gillis.

this trade went from somewhat of a fair deal for both sides to horrible for the flames when the "conditional" part of the first round pick surfaced.

very sad to see one of the best Canadian hockey players of our time to get traded to the most despicable organization in hockey. truly disgusting. ugh

I agree, but for many teams who are legitimately pushing for the cup this year, Iginla is the type of player who is the "last piece to their puzzle." I really refuse to believe that this (pathetic) deal was the highest Calgary could fetch for their team captain. My god, they couldn't even get a first rounder out of it.

We will be saying the same thing when Luongo gets traded. It's a buyers market this year.

He also limited the Flames with his no trade clause.

How so? We've been a game away from the cup, back to back presidents trophies, 5+ straight division titles, etc. I get we haven't gone all the way but to mention our management in the same breath as the jokers they have running the flames is completely ludicrous.

Trading Iginla from Calgary is like trading Linden from Vancouver. It hurts the team and the city. Good luck to Iginla, hate that you're a Bruin though.
