I think people are ignoring Newhook who may have a ceiling similar to Podkolzin.

Newhook is a very raw talent and also a small player who plays a small game. He would need a few years of seasoning. Not sure if that's the type of player Canucks need. I see him going in the 15-20 range rather than top-10, same with Podkolzin.

He is raw - but the talent is tantalizing - I think if a team is willing to wait, he could be the home run of the draft.     I don't agree that he plays a small game, I do agree that he isn't ever going to overpower anyone but I have seen him in traffic and he can take care of himself and can be a poo-disturber with the best of them if/as needed.

Boldy is exactly the player the Canucks need. Think Jason Zucker but bigger.

Have you watched him shoot?   His released from what I have seen of it reminds me a bit of Boeser's.    The kid can flat out shoot a puck and seemingly is happy to do so from almost anywhere on the ice.

1) Boldy ( Rantanen comparison according to some scouts :towel:)

2) Broberg ( Futher Top 4:  Q.Hughes - Broberg & Juolevi - Woo sounds entertaining)

3) Newhook ( BC connection)

But what if JB wants to go after Giants Bowen Byram, if he's there at 4, 5 or 6

10th overall + Gaudette + 2nd or 3rd pick in 2019 or 2020 - Would this package get it done?

1) Jack Hughes

2) Kaapo Kakko

3) Alex Turcotte

4) Bowen Byram or Kirby Dach

5) Bowen Byram or Trevor Zegras

Don't care on the name. Want best D available. And maybe try to move up to high 2nd round and snag 2 scoring forwards there.

One of the two righties.   Near impossible to trade for and a kings ransom at UFA.  Need to develop one ourselves.

also wanted PLD in 2016, screw you Columbus :P.  Hoping Olli’s bad luck is behind him.

Boldy FTW!

Who were the 18 that did not want Quinn Hughes?

I pretty sure I'm one of them. I had only seen a few of his games his draft year but in the ones I saw it looked like he didn't know what the word "defense" was. That plus some concerns over how he would handle physicality had me shying away.

Here's to hoping he proves me wrong!

Picks 1 to 3: Benning stated multiple times through out the year they want a play maker winger for Bo's line.

1. Zegras (not in poll but possibility we move up to get him) - second in skill to Hughes?

2. Boldy - can pass and shoot!

3. Krebs - all around player with high compete

4. A RHD - Soderstrom (or Seider)

Honorable mentions:

newhook

podman (if available would be great for first line)

I think part of it is that people pick the guy that is most controversial/talked about, not the guy they least want. For example, I chose Raphael Lavoie as the guy I least wanted... but I'm also not worried that JB will pick him. I think Broberg/Soderstrom will be more valuable players than Lavoie, and I think most people would agree, but those guys (and a guy like Caufield) will receive more votes because people are more worried that they are legitimate picks at #10. It is tough to capture the "guy most likely to be picked at 10 that you don't want to get picked at 10" category.
