He hasn't been bad. He's playing 3 line minutes but is usually on a line with Baertschi and Vey/Virtanen depending on who is health. Granlund is your typical 3rd line/4th line shutdown center. He has been very good in his own zone and can contribute offensively when need be, he doesn't seem to have his confidences back so it will be interesting to see what happens when he has confidence. He has shown some signs on being able to produce at a a 10-15 goals/30-40 point clip over a full season but hasn't done it consisently.
He patience with the puck is impressive for a young player and he has shown signs of being an above average playmaker. He board play is ok he needs to gain some weight in order to be more effective on the board, but he does a good job of protecting the puck in the corners. Benning said that he has a good shot but we haven't seen much of it at all so far, from the couple of shots I have seen he has a quick release but it isn't the hardest shot.
Overall he has played better than CDC give him credit for. I think it's just a matter of time before we start to see some high end offense out of him. He was a .6 PPG in the Sm-Liiga (they don't give out secondary assists) and almost a PPG in the AHL during his time in Abbotsford/Stockton so the offensive ability is there, but like I said earlier I tihnk it will come when he becomes more confident.
