  1. Are you tired of the negativity on media about the Canucks? (Twitter, Canucks Board, Radio, etc)

Unfortunately, guys like Thomas Drance and JD Burke are cancerous and a menace to Canucks hockey.  Both guys have a cult like following and report things in a biased manner in order to further their own agendas. Elliote Friedman has been subtly trolling the Canucks since their cup loss in 2011.

Dan Riccio, Sat Shaw, and Don Taylor are good guys though.  Dhaliwal has his moments of douchery but he's a good guy.  Riccio is the absolute best imo however as he almost always presents a balanced perspective.

I think it's pretty on par to be honest.  A few things we have to realize:

      1) Top NHL superstars don't get paid like top NBA, MLB, and NFL superstars.  So obviously, Connor McDavid's home isn't going to look like Kobe Bryant's or Alex Rodriguez's home.

      2) McDavid lives in Edmonton.........not Hollywood, Greenwich Connecticut, New York City, or Miami.

Normally, I wouldn't be a fan of hiring Mike Babock since he's been known to verbally and emotionally abuse players but in Petey and Brock's case, it just might be what the good doctor ordered.

  4. lmaaooo Winnipeg Jets are garbage like their boring bland city

  5. Playoffs are out of sight, there's no way this team runs the table and gets the necessary points now. Hopefully this is the year we actually win a lottery pick, could use a top 3 talent.

Canucks should make a coaching change and then deal with whatever situation is in front of them at the trade deadline.  We are a half decent team 5 on 5.  New coach + changes to our special teams = we can climb out of the hole.

  6. Which stage of grief are we at today?

Fans were really cool actually.  Ive watched a CFL game in every single stadium except Winnipeg and Ottawa (hope to do within these next 5 years).  The only time that I experienced hostility/passive aggressiveness was in Toronto (both CFL and NHL).   I've also seen opposing fans harassed at BC Place unfortunately.

It's unfortunate but from my experience, it's only Toronto and Vancouver that have scum bag fans.  That's just from a CFL perspective however.

I watched a Riders/Lions game in Saskatchewan back in 2012 wearing my Lions jersey.  It was a terrific experience and the fans there were very warm and friendly even though they knew I was from BC.  Those guys really treasure their CFL.

I’m also at the acceptance stage.

I’m still young enough to see the Canucks make 2-3 cup runs at some point before my time is up and so I’ll try to enjoy the journey as much as I can.  I’ve already seen my other teams in championships (Heat, Seahawks, B.C. Lions, and TORONTO Blue Jays), and I’m already grateful for what I’ve experienced. I was in attendance at the 2010 Gold Medal game as well.

Patel’s autopsy of the Benning and Green regime.

For me, it was that 2020 off-season that ultimately killed us since it must have confused our players.

After signing Myers and Ferland, along with trading a 1st+ to bring in JT Miller, and using Madden+ for trade for Tyler Toffoli, the Canucks finally made the playoffs via the play-ins, took out the defending champs, and came within a game of making the 3rd round.........and then we unceremoniously, let all four of Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli, and Stecher walk while keeping the lazy and troubled Virtanen on the team.

For me - it was this off season and this off season alone that turned our biggest team strength (team chemistry) into one of our biggest weaknesses.

The Arizona deal needed to happen in 2020 which would have allowed us to move massive cap space in order to sign those aforementioned 4 players.  Yes, we would have had to lose Demko and Podkolzin in the process, but all of our bad contracts would have been moved while allowing us to simultaneously sign those 4 players.

To Arizona:  Podkolzin + Demko + Player Name + Sutter + Baertschi + Roussel + Virtanen + Gaudette for OEL, Garland, Kuemper.

      Miller-Pettersson-Toffoli

      Hoglander-Horvat-Boeser

      Pearson-####-Garland

      Motte-Beagle-MacEwen

      OEL-Myers

      Hughes-Tanev

      Edler-Stecher

      Markstrom

      Kuemper

Given the Covid situation in 2020, many players were signing “poo poo” one year heavily discounted contracts with the expectation that they’d sign more normalized contracts a year later.  In other words, the Canucks would have likely been able to sign a really good player for pennies on the dollar and either duplicate or build upon their 2020 bubble playoffs.

Instead, I believe that the 2020 off season confused our core players of Myers, Miller, Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, and Boeser.

On top of all this, it looks like Green’s system all along simply wasn’t conducive to maximizing players’ strengths.  Schmidt came here and stunk, Virtanen is now doing extremely well in the KHL, while OEL can’t produce points with us.  Gudbranson seems to have rediscovered his game while Chris Tanev doesn’t seem to be injury prone anymore largely due to Calgary’s superior puck possession game.  Green’s shocking lack of creativity and innovative systems has also sunk this team.

Given the way that Benning had tried to rebuild this team since the 2015 playoff loss, it was absolutely imperative that Benning ran with that Markstrom, Tanev, and Stecher  contingent because those were the guys that went through the battles with our core and those were the guys that held the fart down while we transitioned.

Given the way that Benning chose to rebuild this team, losing both Demko and Podkolzin so that we could clear bad contracts AND hold onto those aforementioned four players was absolutely imperative.  Benning needed to pull the trigger on the OEL/Garland deal in 2020 much faster........but didn’t since Benning completely lost the context.  Benning may have made the right moves on paper, but he sold out his core in the process.

  11. If you were the GM, what would be the core roster guys that you'd build around and refuse to trade moving forward?

I'm thinking Demko, Hoglander (not the most skilled but he's a leader with his work ethic), Horvat, OEL (I like Podkolzin and Garland too and would have a big ask but the consistency isn't there).

Congratulations on having the foresight to predict that Pettersson, and Boeser to a lesser extent, would completely fall off a cliff.  :-/

  13. Canucks' coaches and some players have been boasting about how they're better than the other teams 5 on 5. Does anyone know what stats they're looking at? For the life of me, I'm not seeing this when I watch them. On a stats perspective, I'd like to compare if their view is definitely correct compared to prior years.

  15. Quinn Hughes 12 points and +6

    Jacob Chychrun 1 point and - 20

And to think some Canuck fans wanted to trade our Mighty Quinn for the (not so great) Jakob.

In all seriousness though, the Canucks and AZ do have a working relationship from this past summer.

IF the Coyotes continue to struggle and IF the Canucks can keep close ground in the playoff race, then I wouldn't be opposed to kicking the tires on Chychrun or Keller at some point if those guys request to be traded.  Something around Hamonic, our 2022 1st, and a couple of good prospects for Chychrun.

      Chychrun-Hughes

      OEL-Myers

      Schenn-Poolman

That, combined with my unpopular yet "necessary evil" tactics to acquire Evander Kane out of San Jose at pennies on the dollar (i.e. Pearson + wet farts), and the Canucks could have a Nigerian Dark Horse on their hands full of piss and vinegar.

      E.Kane-Pettersson-Boeser

      Miller-Horvat-Garland

      Hoglander-Dickinson-Bailey

      Highmore-Lammiko-Chiasson

      Chychrun-Hughes

      OEL-Myers

      Schenn-Poolman

      Demko

      Halak

The team above would have a good chance of being a 2nd round team.

I mean, look how Nate Schmidt performed in Vegas and is currently performing in Winnipeg.

If Green was smarter, he would have realized that Justin Bailey was ready to be in this team as early as February 2020.

      Fire Green.  Hire Claude Julien.

If it was the Canucks between 2011-2013, it would have been a $45 million dollar fine.
