We drafted more RHD in 24 hours than we have since 2018/2022 combined.
Which means going back to 2003 we have drafted a total of 16 total RHD in 20 years, out of a combined 138 total draft picks. A total of 11.59% of all of our draft picks spent on RHD in 20 years, arguably our greatest positional need going back to 2003.
That is genuinely an insane stat if you think about it. it's no wonder we don't have anything in the pipes knowing we went 5 straight draft years without drafting a single one and averaged less than 1 per draft with the bulk of all total RHD being drafted AFTER the 3rd round in that 20 year span.

i'm afraid that the only way out of cap hell for canucks, is to attach sweetners with some contracts to move them. not ideal but possible the only way. draft picks or prospects. we should forget about winning every trade.

@-AJ- Burke actually worked it out with side deals to get the top & 2nd ranked prospect in that draft. Atlanta could brag in newspaper promotions about having the 1st overall pick but it was that in name only. I forgot the compensation Burkie gave for Atlantic not to pick either Sedin with that pick. Burke really was Monty Hall lol & Atlanta got a 'zonk' gift behind curtain number one.

Is this an age thing? This is the second time I've gone to the pub. Ordered. And given the wrong thing. I know severs get paid crap wages. But pro tip. Pen/ pad of paper. Write down the order and repeat it back to the customer.

Actually it's not like the NHL doesn't have a history of this. Go back as far as the 1967-68 season when the first big expansion happened during the 'original six days'. They (NHL) put all the expansion teams in one division and the "original six teams" in the other division. The Cup finals would be represented by one team from each division. This *GUARANTEED* one of the expansion teams to be in the Cup Finals!
Oh, if one doesn't need to dislike the Leafs anymore, the Canucks were supposed to be among the leading contenders to receive an expansion team in that first group but largely as a result of the Laffs veto'ing Vancouver's bid; we had to wait until a few years later.
