@Curmudgeon Says *alot* about the prospect development under Jim Benning. Kevin Bieksa took like his mid-20s to even break into the NHL full-time (forget top 4). Because...well the previous regime(s) actually took the time to develop players.
Developing your prospect properly is just as important as drafting good prospects.

Thinking back on it, Gillis really should have just given Willie Mitchell the two-year deal he wanted. Then we could have saved the assets from the Keith Ballard trade and used them elsewhere.

I woke up this morning, feeling good about this trade and new direction. I did some research on this prospect. Things look good. 2 years he could be a 1/2 C. Time for a change, we are getting that.

Dan Murphy is actually trying to compare the Horvat trade to the Linden trade to the Islanders when the Canucks got Bertuzzi & Mccabe. Totally ridiculous. Bertuzzi & Mccabe were already established players.

Remember when people thought Jason Dickinson and tyler motte was devolping into really good players? Jason has 3 points in his last 25 games and 0 points in his last 17 games.
Motte has 2 points in his last 24 games and of course is injured.

Don't need a drafted defenseman if you can find an undrafted one in the form of Tanev. That's one of the things Gillis left Benning. At 24 years old at the time as well. Sure he's no Hughes, but he's miles ahead of anything else Benning brought in his 7 or so years of high draft picks and dealt 1st rounders (McCann) for garbage like Gudbranson.
