Dick Van Dyke’s name is too offensive. He should change it to Richard Van Lesbian.

CDC,
If this status update gets 20 replies, I will reveal the true story behind why I chose my username.
This is a NEVER BEFORE HEARD STORY! Once in a lifetime opportunity to find out the hidden meaning behind the username of CDC's user, ROBERTS!

I'm just saying, the Central took a big hit and don't look as competitive as the Pacific anymore, IMO 5 teams from Pacific take 5 of the 8 playoff spots, Canucks one of them

#AssetManagement Toronto edition
Here is Toronto's trade history of 1st rounders and add-ons since 2019
2019 - Grundstrom (2nd) Durzi (2nd) 1st round pick (22nd OA) for Muzzin
2020 - gave away 13OA (Seth Jarvis) to get rid of the Marleau contract
2021 - traded away 25OA (Corson Ceulemans) to acquire Noesen and Foligno... both no longer with the TML
2022 - gave away to get rid of Mrazek contract... did get back a 2nd round pick (Fraser Minten) who had a very meh season and very underwhelming playoff as a D+1 player.
2023 - traded away 25OA (Otto Stenberg) to acquire Ryan O'Reilly who signed with the Preds as a UFA.
2024 - still owned by the TML but will probably have to attach it to Murray to trade away that boat anchor of a contract
2025 - traded away with other prospects to acquire Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty
the Leafs have traded away 6 first round picks for 1 playoff series win and only have McCabe and Lafftery left to show for it.-
@Dazzle Nobody is praising Toronto for those moves. Toronto gets praised for filling out the depth roles with cheap players.

Why 2004? The mismanagement of the Leafs goes way beyond that. Harold Ballard - a name that brings PTSD to old Leafs fans everywhere. A team that consistently pumps over 100 points in the regular season is probably justified to go all-in and trade away their picks. Obviously some moves were extremely poor (ie. Marleau), but we Canucks fans have no right to ridicule other teams on how they manage their draft picks.

Why do Canucks fans think it's fun to dump on the Leafs when we almost never make the playoffs, trade away all of our depth picks, and some of our top picks became complete busts? Toronto has had some solid teams go all-in every year while we've had some garbage, non-playoff teams still go all-in for no reason. We've only made the playoffs once in those seven years and we've only got a massive buyout to show for it

Hockey players have such boring nicknames these days. It’s all Millsy, Petey etc. They just don’t put any thought into them anymore. It’s sad. I realize there are a few exceptions, like The Kuz Missile, but most are boring.

Happy "JT MILLER AIN'T GOING ANYWHERE" day! Woo!

Brilac has lost 10 pounds since the Kraken Playoffs ended! Can you believe that? !! It was an end to my quality wine drinking of lushness and Dick's Drive In eating.

Benning should now be the most hated Canuck in franchise history. He has ruined this team in such a way that Messier couldn't even imagine.
-
@Ghostsof1915 To no credit of his own, the toxicity that Messier brought to Vancouver forced the team to 100% rebuild. Those key players were chased out of town, but we did get back some key players who would form the next core (ie. Linden for Bertuzzi, who we later flipped for Luongo). So while Messier did actively blow up the team much sooner than expected, he also inadvertently triggered a rebuild using very young players. Benning has actively done the opposite by forcing the team to keep paying for his mistakes.

Gary Bettman is the worst thing to ever happen to hockey and any self respecting hockey fan should be sick to their stomach seeing Vegas win already.
-
Interesting fact - the 3 teams that beat the Canucks in a SCF all lost in this years first round!
-
Seeing Chatfield become a premier shutdown defenseman on one of the best defensive teams shows why we suck at developing.
-
Stupid question. Forgone conclusion that regardless who drafts Connor Bedard he's playing in the NHL next year?
-
Wow. Zdeno Chara just finished the Boston Marathon under 4 hours. Damn.
-
Why is everyone here convinced we can sell Myers after his bonus? He gets it Sept. 1. What kind of team wouldn't be cap compliant that late into the offseason? No team.

How does a player with nearly 150pts is only a +17
-
Hey look, a media person whining about how they lost media access to the Canucks. Not sure how this is going to help their "cause".

Is anyone courageous enough to try and open up another thread on the LGBTQ+ situation? Last one took 2 days to get locked
-
@Master Mind @The Lock It's become a pretty important issue in the the NHL, where every team and player decision is newsworthy. So for a hockey forum to be unable to even talk about those things (without completely breaking down into homophobic slander) is disappointing. The hockey subreddits have done a much better job approaching this topic.

@Dazzle I think both are still up (but locked) in general hockey. Among many others, it was one specific person that went over the top hating woke culture and PC culture, basically teeing off on gay and trans rights.
@VancouverHabitant This isn't the place to get into things, but it really wasn't a divisive issue until the prevailing culture made it one.

man the kraken are such a fun team to watch
-
Sometimes I wonder, is Bedard the next Crosby / MacKinnon / Stamkos, or is he the next Yakupov / Stefan / Daigle? Or somewhere in between?
-
if we win the lottery, is bedard or fantilli a tocchet guy?
-
imo, players should also carry some risk for their futures.
say a player gets an 8x8 contract
..their base salary should be 5 mil with bonuses to take it 8 mil.
then if their skill decline, so should their bonus money.
