In the context of a guy who could drop a dime, turn an otherwise sh!t player into a forty goal scorer? Jumbo was god. Then his team could trade said sh!t player, score Brent Burns for free? An assist that has been still ticking over near a dozen years.

But no, Jumbo was not in Syd or Ovi's league. 

First and foremost is physical talent. Those guys were, and still are to a lesser degree, sublime. Nobody, and I mean nobody, could guard Sydney Crosby. Ovechkin was so strong, he could have three guys hanging on him? And he could still control the puck. Roof shots goalies knew were coming, but still could not stop?

2knd, and especially noting the age at which it was discovered with Alex? 

Is competitive spirit.  Which Ovi displayed at a young age in a Russian uniform. But could never match Syd, who stole titles at every level from him. On an ongoing basis. Therefore the best player of this generation. Till Alex also decided he had to turn it up. Now he has a championship people thought he could not win. Now can be in a conversation with Gretz, Dryden, Potvin, Beliveau. Who single handedly would will their immense talent through unbreakable walls. Break ankles, human spirit. With impossible goals, win championships.

Joe, instead was laughed out of his captains role by his GM.

As further above; Jake needs to improve his handling of the puck. Protect the puck in tight, make plays. A bit of stickhandling.

He's also got to become a net front presence. Learn how to make tips. He should be a no brainer for rebound goals. At the very least I believe Green will knock him into shape for rebounds. But all this is within his capacity.

I agree Heffy. Not much downside IMO either.

And upside? A 2knd or 3rd line crashing & bashing winger that can move up, function with top players. Even add dimensions which help them operate!

Jake will need to learn some puck skills! That would make him a perfect winger. Size, fore checks like a demon, can steal passes & head up ice.

Utica should be pretty good? Lind, Jasek, Brisbois, Brassard, Sautner, Palmu, Gadjovich, maybe Dahlen etc.  Weak at C? Unless EP & Gaudette play there??
