  1. He has quite a bit more pts per game at this point than Svechnikov, a tiny bit more than Connor, and Kaprisov waited until he was 23 to come to the league. I think it is reasonable, but I was a little suprised with the eastern media bias that they put him that high.
  2. I would be surprised if Bailey isn't given a look for the 4th line before sending him down.
  3. Do we have any recent updates on Sutter, Motte, Brisebois, and how long did they say Keeper was out?
  4. It is odd that Schenn is not listed on the Canucks site on the roster. 5. I like Hunt's game and attitude, but imho he and Quinn would be a disaster. Schenn will get that role for now, I think . They have a past working well together. He will settle things down for Quinn like Tanev did, until Hamonic comes an tags him out.
  6. I think that our top 3 of OEL, Hughes, and Myers, might be the best top 3 we have ever had, talent-wise. Hamonic and Poolman at their best will be very solid, defensive 4th and 5th options. I am excited to see the progress of OJ, I am a bigger fan than most on here. I think he will be really good all-around defenseman if given the opportunity. Schenn is a warrior who can fill in anywhere. Rathbone could probably use some time to dominate Abbotsford. Overall I think this group has great potential to be much better than they most think. Go Canucks Go!
  7. I think with Poolman and Myers taking 44-46 minutes on the right side, Bowey, Schenn, and Burroughs are good enough to fill in the 14 minutes on the right side. There won't be anything better coming on the waiver wire. When Hamonic shows up, this will make us quite deep on that side. Too bad Keeper wasn't still around to fight for those minutes, I would have liked to see a bit of his game.
  8. I didn't see enough of the game to get a sense. OEL looked good, but how did Poolman do as his partner?
  9. With his injuries, Covid, and overall limited playing time I think he just needs a coach to believe in him, get some time, comfort and confidence. He clearly gets the game.
  10. I agree mostly, but these players need to understand that the only reason that they make 3 million for being a middling nhl defenseman is because we care about every little detail. They have to expect scrutiny, if there wasn't, they wouldn't be in a financial position to not show up to work for a $3 million job.
  11. I haven't seen the bulk of the game but what I have seen Olli looks really solid. Calm, cool, good passing. I think he's coming on.
  12. It's like when you flirt with a waitress. You know deep down she does it with every customer for tips, but you want to believe just for an hour that she's a little into you. You would be the guy telling me I'm too old and fat for her and she just wants my tips. You might be right but nobody wants to go for beers with you.
  13. Google Debbie Downer, then you'll get it. I have said this before on here. "Fan" is short for "fanatic". Fanatics don't spend their time looking for the most logical, rational, contrarian or pessimistic viewpoint so that they can seem like a big thinker to the other fanatics. Saying that "all that matters is a cup" will lead you to nothing but disappointment. I know that my team, of which I am a fanatic, has a small chance of winning a cup. There are 32 teams trying and only 1 gets it every year. So I would rather be entertained and escape in thinking that my team is maybe a little better than they are and have a better chance than they probably do. If every fan had your attitude, there would be nobody cheering for 70% of the teams and the league would fold.
  14. What team to you cheer for? I'm a fan of the Vancouver Canucks. I think Hughes is the most exciting Dman I have seen play for my team, ever.
  15. When COVID goes away and the league ramps up, the cap will go up. There will be more room. It is not a permanent amount.
  16. I don't agree at all about Hughes. He was a beast in the bubble and will be back stronger than ever. With some pressure off of him with OEL taking big minutes, Hughes will thrive.
  17. Petersson, Horvat, Miller, Boeser, Garland, Hoglander, Pearson Total salary 33.466 Million Matthews, Marner, Tavares Total Salary 33.543 Million I like the look of that.
  18. If Hamonic bails and Sutter is out for awhile. I would like to see them give Anisimov, Sceviour, or Eric Staal a long look and take the best fit to give us more center depth and some leadership. Also bring in Demers for a PTO asap.
  19. When people say you build through the draft, I think that sounds too simple. You build a great team by drafting the best players available. This is not easy. Vancouver has never had any sustained skill or luck in picking the best player available. Until the past few years. Of course you are going to have some that will not pan out. But what you need are some who perform well above their draft position. Horvat drafted 9th, 5th most points of his draft class Demko drafted 36th, Strong starting NHL goalie Boeser drafted 23rd, 7th best pts/game of a great draft class Petersson drafted 5th, best pts/game of his draft class Hughes drafted 7th, best pts/game of his draft class Hoglander drafted 40th, 4th most pts in his draft class Add to these guys Podkolzin 10th, likely the nhl roster this year and surpassing many of the players drafted ahead of him Gadjovich, Klimovich, Woo, 2nd rounders with solid chance of making nhl roster Dipietro, Lockwood, 3rd rounders with a solid chance of making the team within 1 year Rathbone, 4th rounder likely to make the team this year at some point This is what they mean when they say build through the draft. We finally have some sustained success. If some of the guys like Jurmo, Gabrielsson, Silovs, Persson, Lockhart can pan out as nhlers, this will have been a truly remarkable few years. Go Canucks Go
  20. OEL is one of the best all around defenseman in the league and has been wasting away in the desert. I love Edler, but he was our defacto No. 1 dman for years and only once got any votes for the Norris. He came 13th in 2011-2012. OEL has placed 7th, 9th, 11th, 14th, and 17th. 5 times. Edler was selected to represent Sweden 24 times. OEL 64 times. He has played on a great deal of bad, irrelevant teams with ownership problems. He wanted out for the past couple of years and lost his spark. It's back! I think we will all love him. Go Canucks Go!
  21. Whatever the situation, I have a really hard time with Hamonic dragging this on so long. If he has stuff to deal with that precludes his playing, then opt out. What difference does a couple of days make?
  22. OEL and Hughes are 2 of the top defenseman we have every had and are on the team at the same time, this cannot be understated. How many teams boast 2 players still in their prime who have been in the Norris voting? They will eat big minutes. Myers is huge and pk's and plays 22 min a game. Poolman looks like a steady hand who skates better than we thought. I think this defense will be fine, with Hamonic they would have been better, but not if his heart is not in it. I guarantee the others in the top 4 will give us everything they've got.
