  1. I don't think enough is being made about Jurmo. He floundered a bit last year and it seemed like it may take him a while, but he is playing first line-type minutes and generating offense in a pretty good league in his draft +2. This is a big leap forward. His size and skating are nhl ready, but he needs to play big, important minutes to hone his game. He is being given that chance. Playing with another former Kelowna Rocket btw, Libor Zabransky.
  2. I am not happy about the Hamonic situation and think that it hurts our overall defensive makeup. I think that JB did a great job of providing the type of rhd we needed to support our more skills lhd and also added OEL. This defense made more sense and was well balanced. Hopefully Hamonic is back with the team. If not, I hope JB doesn't rush to spend that cap space. There isn't much out there. I think we still have a strong group. OEL Myers I think Myers is better than most. He was a beast in the bubble. If he is told to sit back and ride shot gun for OEL, I think they could be a great pair. His reach and speed make him a good partner for OEL, imho. Hughes Poolman Tucker seems like the steady hand that Hughes needs at 5 on 5. He played with Morrisey alot in Winnipeg and suits that role. OJ/Schenn/Rathbone/Hunt/Bowie The best 2 can fill in the balance of the minutes. We have 3 guys capable of playing well over 20 minutes a night. Go Canucks Go!
  3. If JB can pull off a deal for a rhd who clears up cap space, great. But in the mean time, this gives Schenn, Bowie, Burroughs, and Woo a chance to play some minutes and see what they have. Too bad for Keeper, this might have been a good shot for him.
  4. OEL could tell them very quickly whether he's worth it or not. He was paired with him a bunch last year.
  5. Can you show me the quote where JB says this? I though he said "will be". Then seemed to get vague about it. My comments only stand if it is vaccine related. If it is any other health issue, including his family, then he should take the time he needs. I am just losing my patience with anti-vaxxers.
  6. Agreed, I have no proof. However, I think with all the speculation, if he were fully vaccinated I think the Canucks would say that to put it to bed. I should have said "if" though, you are right.
  7. I was pretty excited about this season. Mostly because all of the negativity seemed cleared up, with Virtanen, Loui, Beagle, Roussel, Schmidt gone and some new faces who were pumped. I have to admit that the EP/QH saga, Hamonic saga, and Sutter/Motte out are starting to put a damper on that enthusiasm. I know the deal for 2 young superstars is complex, but there are only so many options, and it's enough already! Hamonic, there is no excuse for this. While I understand that the Indigenous community hasn't been treated well by our health care system in the past, we prioritized indigenous people with this vaccine as their communities were suffering more per capita. Indigenous leaders asked for it and the Canadian Government gave it to them. This is a very lame excuse for signing a contract to make millions and then not showing up because of your refusal to take a community-saving vaccine. Hamonic missed training camp last year and had a bad start and his team was decimated by this virus, it's enough already! Sutter and Motte, hopefully they can get going soon or we can use the cap to get moving.
  8. I am a fan of Juolevi. I think he is better than most think. I think he deserved more ice time last year. He showed poise, positioning and made very few bad plays. I, unlike many on here, have not written him off. Nor do I think he can't be a really good nhl defenseman. Everybody's rush to annoint Rathbone does not mean you have to cheer against Juolevi. As a Canucks fan, I am rooting for both.
  9. I haven't heard 1 word about Dickinson so far in this camp. Anyone have any insight as to how he looks?
  10. I felt when EP made that sort of sparky comment in the summer that he, in summary, wants to be with a winner, I hoped that was a sign that he understood the cap perils of a small number of player getting too much of the cap. If he is now holding out for too much, which remains to be seen, it will be the first chunk in his armor for me. It will say to me that he was somewhat disingenuous with his comments about building a winner and just want to get paid.
  11. Another Russian prima donna. He has 1 year under his belt and now makes more than Draisatl, Crosby, Aho, Heiskanen, Hedman, tell me which one you would trade for Kaprizov? The Wild screwed everybody, including their own internal salary expectations. This is just dumb.
  12. Jasek with a goal and an assist today for the Pelicans. Jasek is playing 1st line center. Utunen on top pairing defense. They played against Joni Jurmo, 2nd pairing defense, and Petrus Palmu, 2nd line winger who had 2 assists. Would have been a fun one to watch for Canucks' fans.
  13. He was one of the comedians that made other comedians laugh. They thought he was a genius. Good enough for me! RIP Norm
  14. Both Myers and Hamonic have played top4 minutes their whole careers. They just need 20-22 minutes in a defined role and these 2 will allow QH and OEL to work their magic. I think the d will be a strength. They have more suitable players playing more suitable roles.
  15. They also have Chycrun, Keller, Hayton, Soderstrom, Schmaltz, Guenther, to build on. I think they will be able to finally find a buyer and a new city with all this future potential.
  16. I think Montreal played this really well. Carolina is now overpaying for a 3rd line centre and will be stuck with a high QO after giving up a 1st and 3rd to get him. Montreal is now paying 1.6 million less for a better player. Where Montreal failed was at the draft when they picked Kotkaniemi. It was a reach at the time and they missed out on Brady Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes who would actually be worth matching.
  17. I am excited about: Having EP back. OEL Podkolzin Garland Hughes 3rd year Hoglander's 2nd year Dickinson Hamonic, Poolman, Schenn, Myers bringing more toughness to d the battle for icetime among OJ, Rathbone, Schenn, Hunt, Keeper, Bowie, Woo, Brisebois, Burroughs (that depth is better than it has ever been) battle for icetime among Highmore, MacEwen, Lockwood, Petan, DiGiuseppe, Bailey, Gadjovich, Dowling, Dries (that depth is better than it has ever been) Overall, I'm just really excited for a season with exciting young players, better overall offense, better overall defense, but most of all no crappy contracts in the minors or the pressbox or on the ice that I just don't want to hear about anymore (Baertschi, Player Name, Beagle, Roussel, Holtby) and a balance of salaries that make sense for the players playing the roles that they are playing. Miller EP Garland Hoglaner Bo Boeser Pearson Dick Podz Motte Sutter MacEwen Highmore OEL Poolman Hughes Hamonic OJ Myers Rathbone Schenn Demko Halak Go Canucks Go!
  18. Looking forward, I would say in 4-5 years OEL and Hughes will be top 4 when you ask this question. Ohlund and Jovo will be the others. I'm pretty stoked that we clearly have two of the best defenseman we have had in 50 years on the team at the same time. Go Canucks Go!
  19. WTF? Why does everybody want to trade Quinn Hughes. I have a picture of John Chayka on my desk that I kiss everyday for taking Barret Hayton and half of cdc wants to trade Quinn?
  20. Toni scored today for the Pelicans and was listed as playing in the starting pair. Also on the ice to start the game and scoring was Lukas Jasek. Good day for Canucks prospects!
  21. He was listed as playing in the starting d pair and scored a pp goal. Pretty nice start. It's just preseason, but this got to be a confidence-building start for the big Finn!
  22. I struggled with that, but Sundin was a huge, dominant centerman. I think his greatness was limited by playing mostly in Toronto.
  23. I just reread this entire topic and I didn't see anyone even remotely fantasizing about his future. Your hyperbole regarding the comments on here is a bit ridiculous actually. If you have a problem with fans, on a fan site, showing hope and cautious optimism about a prospect when they hear some good news about them, you probably should find a new hobby.
  24. I would take them in this order Forsberg Lidstrom Sundin Hedman Nilsson Karlsson Naslund Sedin Sedin Lundquist Zetterberg Alfredsson
