elvis15
I'd put Edler in a deal to get Weber directly, but not otherwise. This year is no contest considering Edler is still on a low cap hit, but who would you rather have after that: Weber at $8M or Edler at $6M? If we can get Edler for $5M and Weber wants $8.5M+ from us then it'd be something to think about, but the closer their salaries get, the more I'd want Weber. Squeak
Canucks fans should hope that the Canucks re-sign Edler and Burrows... and that should be the only 'worry'
ErnieVan
Everyone here worries about the Cap, why? If and I did say IF, the Canucks should sign Weber they will find a way to fit him under the Cap. MG said it himself at a press conference "why do you guys worry so much about the Cap, we have always been able to run our team and stay within the Cap." I trust MG that if there are players that he can sign he'll figure a way to make it work within the Cap.
Urethra_Franklin
Judging from the overwhelming numbers of CDC users that say the word "Weber" in every thread that has something to do with either "next year" or "defencemen" has led me to believe that Offseaon 2013 might be Mr. Disappointment for us... I'm going to guess all of us, including me would die to have Shea Weber on our team. I feel that we might be setting ourselves up for a huge let down. There are other factors that go in to an NHLers mind than just "coming home". Yes, it happened with Hamhuis and Garrison but this doesn't mean it will automatically happen to Weber. Some topics lately, have been about trading Alex Edler, to make room for Weber in the Top 4. Since when was Weber for sure a Canuck? Let say David Poile pulls the unthinkable (not really) and resigns Weber to a contract, then what? Let's say, Shea Weber cashes in free agent, then what? What if money was more important than "coming home" to Weber, then what? What if Weber loves country music, then what? What if Weber likes George Strait better than The Odds, then what? This might be Justin Schultz x100 let down if Weber doesn't sign with us. Yes, "a man can dream" but all I'm saying is, Weber is not sure shot Canuck by next season until his picture is on the front page of CDC...all of us CDC users are just setting ourselves up for a whole lot of pain if he doesn't sign. Agreed?
Jai604
I'm quite sure we won't get Weber, but if people want to believe we will, then so be it, lol.
HockeyHobo73
Weber would be worth every penny.... If he leaves $500,000 per year on the table, I wouldn't mind if the Canucks paid that... Come on guys, he was the best player on Team Canada at the Olympics... He is worth every penny and we make room for a player like this... We give away Ballard and we trade Booth = we fit Shea Weber and keep our core intact... This is when he turns UFA...

Teen Icarus
Considering the numbers, the stategy moving forward, and I if I wasn't an objective Canucks fan I'd be very concerned about Burrows getting re-signed. I don't see how MG can do it unless Burrows leaves a large chunk on the table. If we thought Cody leaving was bad this could very well blow up the internet. BenSurgeon
One thing you can quote me on is that Garrison will be the only "big" signing, and Gillis will do nothing for the rest of FA except pick up a few cheap nobody's. So forget about any Shane Doan or any other player of that calibre.

smackyo23
Weber is a long shot, Doan we have a good chance if he doesn't resign in Phoenix.
Erik Karlsson
Meh even if we get Weber Sedins will be on the decline, and they're already soft as butter, and we have no top prospects to replace them anytime soon, so yeah.

Cr8zyCanuck
Watching TSN That's Hockey last night and there were saying that Vancouver is most definitely on Doan's radar. His first pick is always Phoenix but TSN was saying that they have it on good authority that next on his list is indeed Vancouver. C'mon and fold already Phoenix!!!! bobopan
If he hits FA were not getting him..MG can't risk losing Edler in FA by waiting and hoping Weber signs with us. Look at the rest of the d-man. Your not trading Bieksa, Garrison, Hamhuis, nor are you gonna play any of them in the 5-6 role. Only way we sign Weber is packaging Edler in a trade for him, and then likely trade Ballard..not that i would be opposed to that but its going to take a massive package to acquire him. ButterBean
Its an extremely disappointing off-season. While other teams get better, we're going no where but side ways. We're still stuck in the Luongo saga, lost a fan favorite in Salo and have added nothing to our offence. I'm loosing faith in MG.
JamesB
Canucks are not getting Weber. Canucks have a little more than 19 mil for next year, Edler will take about 5-6mil and burrows could eat up 3-4 mil. Which leaves the Canucks with around 9 to 10 mil to sign 9 other players.
