I noticed Zach Hall was invited to camp. He went undrafted in the draft, but he put up some impressive numbers in the regular season and playoffs, 81 points in 63 games and 28 points in 19 games respectively.

I have seen this kid play against Belleville last year in the playoffs, he has some upside. Fairly small, but he could be a diamond in the rough!

Here's the Oilers roster for anyone that cares.

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=680612

For the first time in a while, there isn't a potential superstar up front for the Oilers at their rookie camp. You guys won't recognize many of the names but there are some decent prospects in there. The majority bring a good 2 way game and a mean streak. I don't know a lot about the other team's prospects but I have to assume the Oilers group of forwards are one of, if the most physical group in the tournament.

However, the back end is impressive for the Oilers. Klefbom(18th overall in 2011) is easily the best Dman for the Oilers. Darnell Nurse(7th overall in 2013) is probably the biggest name on the team but he'll probably have a smaller role. Guys like Marincin, Musil and Gernat are older and farther along in their development. Klefbom, Marincin and Gernat will be relied on to create a lot of the offense while Nurse will provide some toughness.

As for goaltending. Tyler Bunz is really the only guy I know anything about. He had a successful junior career. He was WHL Goaltender of the year in 2011-12 and many felt he should have been Canada's starter at the WJC in 2012 but a bad camp cost him the job. Last season he was in the ECHL so he could get more starts. I'll admit I didn't watch a single one of his games so I don't know what the team in front of him was like but his 0.886 Save% doesn't look great on paper.

I don't understand why the Canucks didn't bring back Cody Sylvester and Miks Indrasis instead of a pylon like Adam De Champlain. Odd that Ronalds Kenins isn't in the tournament either. Well, good luck to Cody in Pittsburgh. Can't believe he fell off the radar big time. At one point, he was even ranked 11th Top WHL Prospect in March of this year but CSS Final ranking, he didn't even make the final 200.

Kenins is going back on loan to play out the last year of his Swiss league contract, so he likely has some camp obligations there. Indrasis, although we didn't sign him, would be in the same boat, but I'm not sure about Sylvester. Perhaps they didn't like him enough to invite him, or he was already invited to another camp.

Excited for this tournie! Honestly, training camp is my favourite part of the season.

I think this tournie will be big head mode for some of our guys like Eriksson and Jensen, who have played at the pro level and succeeded.

I'm also thrilled that the competition is more balanced, in as much as the oilers wont have their usual 3+ high first rounders to stack the tournie. The flames might be the biggest competition this year.

I'm most excited for Cassels, Tommernes and Blomstrand. Yay for Gillis finally letting Gradin snag some Swedes!
