King Heffy
Can we only buy out a player in the summer? Can we buy out Booth (as a cap compliance example) mid season when he is healthy?

canuckbeliever
Why would you say that? Now there is 0% chance anyone would claim him.
Guest
I really don't believe the chances were high to begin with. You don't put a guy on waivers unless you don't value him
DeNiro
Im pretty sure we still get hit with a cap penalty if he retires early..

Salmonberries
It saddens me that Vig was allowed to do this to such a classy guy. I really hope he is claimed; I believe he will bounce back. Too bad it couldn't have been here under Torts.
Avicii
Teams need to hit the CAP FLOOR, which is why teams like the NYI would claim him.

Avicii
AV should have been fired on the spot as soon as he was voluntarily putting Rome above Ballard on the depth chart. Worst coach in the history of the Canucks other than Keenan.
hudson bay rules
I find it odd that a rental like Roy is worth a second rounder but a half decent player like Ballard who is tied up for a couple of years doesn't get any interest. Why not send a million a year back and make his contract more palatable?

King Heffy
Most GMs in the league only have so much intel on Ballard. The intel is probably "Benched for Rome" "3 goals, 3 seasons" "16 points, 3 seasons"

canuck73_3
Sad that you can't understand "Terrible player" no other player had trouble putting up points getting paid 4 plus million other than Ballard and Booth yet Ballard gets the benefit of the doubt blaming it all on the coach not on him

Avicii
So, terrible coach or terrible player and an absolute idiot of a GM to give away everything to get said terrible player?
Master Mind
I thought someone would have given up a pick to get him, but then again, they know we'd have to put him on waivers anyway if he wasn't taken. I'm surprised no one was willing to trade for him at the deadline though. Not like his cap hit would've been the whole 4.2M, and after playoffs were done the team could just get rid of him if they wanted.
