Yes theres a spelling error in headline, sorry

I know he signed in montreal, his stats are not the best this year. But he isnt being used properly from tsn reports.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=439394

Doubt he would want to come west, especially with another year on his deal, but he is a clutch playoff performer and although undersized could do wonders for our secondary scoring come post season.

Possibly could be had for a bargain aswell.

Should Gillis inquire?

sedin sedin burrows

higgins kesler briere

booth santorelli hansen

weise richardson kassian

Would prefer to have Kassian reamain on that 3rd line as they have played well of late, but those lines look decent

again, thoughts on if we should inquire about his availability??

Briere has been awful in Montreal. Therrien has shuffled the lines to try to find a combination to get him going but most nights he looks lost or disinterested. I don't see any reason Vancouver would want to trade for him even if he was willing to waive his NTC

The Habs are using him wrong. He only starts 39.3% of his non neutral zone shifts in the offensive zone which is 2nd lowest on the team. Give him some more time there and you'll see his point totals increase a hell of a lot more than he has now. I wouldn't mind him as a cheap guy to bring in. He's great in the playoffs.

He's lost his game. There's a reason he was bought out by Philly and there's a reason that he's played his way on to the bench, and it has nothing to do with his offensive zone starts.

Dunno. Kind of hard to judge him when he's always been an offense first guy. I think a little more time in the offensive zone and the right linemates would do him wonders.

Judging from his last quote, he really misses Philadelphia. He basically said no matter where he is or where he plays, that's still home to him.

Maybe Philly will trade for Briere after the 1 year rule is up.

That would definitely explain a lack of motivation to play, even if it's in front of the fans of Montreal. But there's no way Philly will trade for him.

4 years ago, when Philly scored on us on a 5-3 and we lost like 9-3 or something. That was the Briere I wanted. now, he`d be a serviceable depth role player in the playoffs. But Montreal wanted him for years, they got him. He's to small and we've already got a Burrows. Don't want another

They've tried him Desharnias and Pacioretty, Eller and Galchenyuk, Gionta and Plekanec, Eller and Bourque..... Those are all Montreal's top line guys and he's still done nothing. His ive time has been reduced lately becasue Therrien just can't get him going.

The speculation tag isn't really for when you want to speculate about something, but rather when someone in the media who reports on hockey is speculating a possible trade.

Montreal's not moving him, and I don't think they could if they wanted to. This year and next at $4M on a 35+ contract? No thanks.

If Montreal is desperate to trade him and that's there only option*, Philly could send next to nothing and get him back. His contract isn't that bad anymore. Without Briere, Philadelphia is near last in goals scored.

*Gomez and Kaberle already consumed both amnesty outs.

. Philly bought him out. He can't be traded back there this season

Briere has been disappointing every season since he signed with Philly... ...and then the playoffs happened.

But once Philly stopped making the playoffs, he wasn't worth keeping around. Kind of like Cammalleri in Montreal.

You wait, once the playoffs are over, all the Habs fans will love Danny Briere again.

That isn't true. Only Briere's last 2 seasons in Philadelphia were truly disappointing. Outside of that he was exactly what they wanted and needed. The only people who considered him a disappointment were the ones who expected him to score 95 points every season.

Outside of that he was a guy who floated just under a point per game pace and kept a steady goal pace that averaged 30 goals in an 82 game season. Briere was more a victim of lack of media attention while he was consistently a key part of the team someone else would get the spotlight.

For example...

- His 1st season he scored 31 goals (72 Points) but was overlooked by the fact that Mike Richards outscored him.

- His 2nd season he got hurt but still posted 11g and 25p in 29 games (31 goal, 70 point pace) but was overlooked because Carter scored 46 goals, Gagne had 34 goals and 74 points, Richards had 30 goals and 80 points.

And despite getting healthy that has been his Philly career. Strong player but outshined by players like Gagne, Richards, Carter, Giroux... someone always scored more goals or had more points.

Then of course the playoffs would come and he would go lights out and dominate the stats and break records and be back in the spotlight.

We will see if he regains it in the playoffs but personally I do think he is breaking down as a player. His last couple Philly seasons saw a steady decline in production and his Montreal numbers line up with that decline.
