Owners don't want to risk losing interest of those who pay high prices for those (season) tickets, by missing the playoffs or getting trounced like last year and the previous year. I think they're already at "rock bottom" as far as average public interest goes, with how mediocre we have been for a while now, so we may as well go for the rebuild. I bet it wouldn't even cost them that much, short term, but could only help, long term. When Burke drafted the Sedins, he wanted them to be a part of a winner, not to be the identity of the team. He wanted to peddle the BS line its a process and we are in it for the long haul, what a crock...this guy just wanted to keep interest up this year knowing full well this team would be lucky to make the playoffs,,Im so sick of this do nothing turd, I cant wait till he is gone. He ruined this team with all the ntcs and bargain basement pickups, except for the odd one and signing the twins to that huge extension will bite us in the ass for years to come, they are totally uninteresting to watch anymore and their production has dropped drastically. If Gillis doesnt add some big parts soon,, this team is is deep dodo, his buddy Tallon is going to be a big player in the offseason, Fla will clear about 17million in contracts and another 10 in increased cap space,,27 million looks pretty good to play with,,,good luck with all those ntcs Gillis. +1 Shakey. I usually dont respond to rants because folks are just venting off some steam. However, you make some great points. I have defended Gillis for years but he is feline footing around just like Nonis did before him. Afraid to take a chance lest the fans eat his lunch for him. He is cheating to save himself. Unfortunately, we fans will pay the price. He seems content to do nothing , blame the cap or someone else, and have us get blown away in the first round, and draft 18th or something stupid. Its the Winnipeg and Calgary method of never being good enough to win and never lousy enough to get a franchise draft pick. Either he chits or gets off the pot. Either run us at the cup or tear it down. Eat some crow and ask the guys to waive. I still believe this team can win but I also believe Luongo is out of here at years end so we do it now or rebuild.
