Bieksa - All Class

NucksCup2015

Recommended Posts

Did anybody notice that when Torts went after the Flames' locker room, Bieksa snuck around to the other side and can be seen in the back left hand corner in a doorway talking trash to all of the Flames players?? I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it

Loved that. Just standing there, making sure. Always got others' backs.

I wear his jersey for a reason....for a long time, my favourite (along with Burr).

I am a fan of Bieksa but this is why some say he really picks his spots. He steps in to take the face off, doesn't answer the bell with Westgarth, skates away and finds an easier mark (Smid) who actually does quite well against KB. He has to know that if a line brawl is going on that Lain will have to dance with someone right?

That isn't what happened. The ref separated KB so Westgarth finds someone else.

Bieksa is a real man, and a class act, taking that draw for Lain. People have a warped sense of what the C really does though, Bieksa wouldn't be doing anything different than he already is doing just because he has a cloth letter on his jersey.

it sends a message to the team about how you play for one another friend...

why bother having a c then hey?

and no one is suggesting taking it away from Henrik it was a rhetorical comment

Or maybe, just maybe, as the leader on the ice at the time, Bieksa was trying to diffuse what should have been a nothing situation. Puck drops and Bieksa, go figure, goes for the faceoff win. Westgarth didn't even look down at the puck, he just lunges at Bieksa. By not dropping his gloves, perhaps Bieksa was hoping that all the nonsense that followed wouldn't have taken place, the refs would have broken things up, sent Westgarth for 2 for roughing and we'd, you know... actually play hockey??

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Not only did Bieksa step up as a leader, he stepped up as a HOCKEY PLAYER and actually tried to play the game. In doing so, he proved unequivocally that if they didn't start something there wouldn't have been anything.

I would love to see sales records for Bieksa jerseys right now, because I'm betting they went through the roof!

Dont be silly, how the heck was he supposed to know a line brawl was going to happen?? He steps in to try to diffuse the situation, and make it so that if anything was going to happen it would be him taking and throwing the punches. Its not about 'answering the bell.' And did you even watch what happened? The refs separate them and it seems to be over, but then it boils over and bieksa arent together anymore because of the ref... so Westgarth does manage to get to Lain and Bieksa is left with someone else. Its not like he planned it that way

Calm down people. Bieksa stepped up like a veteran should. The next time he gives the puck away you guys will all want to trade him. Good on Bieksa for stepping up on Saturday night but the dabate about making him captain and blah blah blah is a bit much to stomach. One crappy thing that we aren't talking about is the fact that the canucks lost each of those scraps. Need to get more toughness on this team that can actually pound the crap out of the other team.

You're kidding right? You need to do some research.

Voted winner: Jason Garrison (43.5%) - Voted rating: 4.4

Voted winner: Dale Weise (76.4%) - Voted rating: 4.9

Voted winner: Ladislav Smid (53.2%) - Voted rating: 4.6

Voted winner: Kevin Westgarth (53.5%) - Voted rating: 5.2

Voted winner: Brian McGrattan (68.9%) - Voted rating: 6.4

If Kassian was on that line, there would've been bodies lying everywhere

I feel like Lain got the better of Westgarth

I guess you didn't watch then?Bieksa didn't skate away to find an easier mark. He was separated by the linesmen who were in the process of escorting him to the penalty box. In the meantime, they left Westgarth unattended whereby Westgarth literally reached out to grab Lain to force him into a fight. It is pretty obvious if you focus on this in the replay.

I agree, for what it's worth which may help prove your point is that two Flame players ahd to switch jerseys because of too much blood on them, one of which was Westgarth. No Canucks had to do this.
