ha, and henrik isn't out there "sacrificing" right now?

give me a goddamn break. henrik even in decline is twice the player and ten times the leader kesler will ever be.

perhaps, however, he is only doing the team BAD in the long run while playing in this shape...

the year is a write off and everyone, team included, knows it. he's doing what a captain has to do; he's going down with his ship.

no player with even a shred of leadership ability would do anything different in the same circumstances unless immediate surgery was necessary.

Those intermission pieces are the definition of fluff, typically a player with like, his grandparents or his new puppy. I'd imagine a bit about Tortorella calling out Hamhuis in front of the dressing room, and a subsequent meeting with Gillis about it, would have been news around here.

Sorry, not to say you're spouting BS, but like tas I'd like to see a link about this kind of thing.

Then search for it: https://www.google.ca/. I'm not lying and I'm sure there are numerous others who have seen it that can vouch for it's validity. I've got better things to do, at the moment, than scour the net for a video link for you. I know what I heard and I heard Hamhuis himself say it.

Because he's a bleeping goal scorer. Something this organization lack in their prospect pool.

Everyone wants Mantha, cause the guy has velvet hands and is huge. PP specialist.

Guess whos pp would get killed off by a beer league team right now? I was thinking Edler for Mantha though not Kesler.

Id definitely keep Kesler unless someone overpaid quite a lot or like say Drouin for Kesler. Tampa wouldnt do that I dont think, but thats the kind of deal it would take.

Oh come on, you've got how many posts on this site and you can't find time to search for a link to back up that kind of insinuation?

Unless this was really recent, google dot ca turned up this article from last month about Hamhuis being included on Team Canada. There's a reference to a Tortorella quote about 'dogs breakfast' in regards to his play back at the start of the season, but that's it. I'd imagine something as major as a locker room call-out + private meeting with the GM and Coach would've merited a mention.

Again, I'm not saying you're a liar. I just follow this team close enough that I'd be really surprised that something like this passed me by. Another indication is that I never saw any mention of this before you posted that comment, but it's now popped up in a few threads. This is how misinformation is spread in this fan base, so I like to make an effort to find some source backing it up.

Its not surprising that something like this possibly happened, I find this year Hamhuis doesnt seem like he is enjoying himself as much and seems a bit uneasy during interviews etc. Hoping he isn't upset / disgruntled as I think he is a real solid Dman and would hate to see him privately request to be moved etc

I doubt Tampa does it but the thing is they get a good talent now that can benefit the team as of now and Kesler would really fit in their top 6 well. Its highly doubtful but you never know come deadline and if teams are desperate they may make a huge overpayment (well personally I am hoping something like this eventually happens, if Gillis could pull off a retool on the fly that would be pretty amazing)

Hate to say it, but our depth isn't the issue right now, it's our stars. The Sedins, Kesler, Burrows and Edler have been our worst players of late. Our core is just terrible and needs a BIG time change.

I don't see the Sedins or Kesler getting traded, simply because they're world class players who, like Thornton/Getzlaf etc. could ressurect their careers next season or the season after that - you never know how much they have left in the tank.

Guys like Edler and Burrows on the other hand HAVE to go, and while they have some stock left. They're playing big minutes on this team and costing us games. The two of them have two of the worst +/- ratings in the league and are contributing no offence, so lets move them while they still have some potential trade value left. Edler for a young top-6 forward straight up, Burrows for a depth defenceman or prospect.

Next season we have Schroeder playing full-time, Horvat, Gaunce and Jensen getting a bit of time and maybe give Shinkaruk a shot as well. If Dalpe or Lain continue their alright play keep them around for a 4th line. That's about 3 or 4 young guys with experience (Schroeder, Kassian, Dalpe, Lain), 2 or 3 rookies (Horvat, Jensen, Shinkaruk, maybe Gaunce) and the rest are experienced veterans (Sedins, Kesler, Higgins, Richardson, Santorelli, Hansen)

I did take about 45 minutes last night searching the video database on this site, and Hamhuis' HNIC After Hours interview in January, but it wasn't there. It definitely was not a printed piece. I'm almost 100% sure it was a Canucks TV piece as I remember Hamhuis sitting on a stool in either a blue or ash grey Canucks T-shirt on the left side of the TV screen discussing his rough start to the season and the adjustment from AV to Tortorella. The piece, however, was not titled "Hamhuis: His Dislike of Tortorella's Approach to Coaching". It was simply one sentence in a several minute interview discussing various details. Also mentioned by Hamhuis in relation to being called out by Torts (which Hamhuis himself said happened in that same interview) was how they both had to understand each other's personalities a bit better and how best to motivate each other. That was what Hamhuis said their meeting was about.

That's all I have for you, I'm sorry. I actually took 45 minutes of my time and couldn't find it either. You can believe it or you can believe that I'd waste my time, as well as everyone else's time on this website, by propagating a lie that gains me nothing in return. The choice is yours but do keep an eye out during intermissions or on the Canucks This Week show because they often repeat content.

I highly doubt he'll asked to be moved. That interview seemed to suggest that everything got ironed out. However, didn't Torts lay into Hamhuis on the bench during that infamous timeout vs Boston in that 6-2w?

As much as I'd hate to do it, trading Kesler nets us the best possible return to get a bunch of young guys and assets to help the team. But stranger things can happen and maybe we get a solid piece from an Edler/Bieksa deal.

Your post is suggesting a rebuild. Any player over 30 has to be looked at. Bieksa, Burrows and Luongo.

After last year another go around with Luongo seems unlikely but a increase in CAP and his bounce back

season might have another team take him.

If there are significant moves the assumption that Van is back in serious CUP contention in 3 years is a dream. The young names you mentioned above are years away from being impact players.

I think a rebuild is inevitable. It has to be substantial as the prospect depth is not that great.

LOL who in there right mind would trade for Burrows right now.
