thad
Just googled the league standings from 2011-12(last full season). The bottom 3 teams finished with 65 74 78pts, followed by 79 and 80pts. We currently have 68pts and are in complete disarray. We keep blowing it and we could very well be in the top 5 if not top 3. This is pretty embarrassing lol but at the same time could be a blessing. We may actually land that future elite player this year.

If we get a top 5 this year and do a ton of scouting, and dont blow the pick. Then get a top 5 next year in a deep draft we are already rebuilt. If Kesler leaves then get a couple of top prospects in return. Lets just tank this thing hard for 2 years then go after it. If some of the vets want out oblige them and get some players under 25. MoneypuckOverlord
I said it once in this thread and I'll say it again.. Do whatever it takes to get Virtanen. based on what? Did you ever see Virtanen play? Back on topic, this team is projected to finish in the bottom 4, since the Canucks are literally winning 1 game in every 7 games, the worst team in 2014, they will finish the season with 72 points, good enough for at least bottom 4 even a bottom 3, high enough to draft Sam Bennet. We got kids pretty close to making the jump, who knows, we might only need to tank this one season.
thad
Here's a little bit of hope, I looked up draft lotto results. In 2011 the devils won it at 8th place but could only move up to 4th. Also Pat Kane was drafted with Chicago winning the lotto at 5th place. Pretty cool that this year no matter who wins they move all the way to first overall. LeanBeef
Would like Ritchie, reminds me a bit of Kassian, except he shoots more. Doubt he'll be available at our pick though. Big tough powerforward with great hands. Ritchie-Horvat-Shinkaruk would be sick.
adniel_g
So by the looks of it, we get to trade a non-existent Schneider for a top 10 pick again this season? Decent pick-up the way the season has gone. Looks even better when you consider Calgary got some junk and a LATE pick for Iginla. Meanwhile we pick up 2 top 10 picks without intentionally tanking a season.
Mackcanuck
Okay , we are back into 8th pick after the meltdown and OTT's loser point NAS won so they are 4 pts back of us with 2 games in hand for 7th pick Car is 5 pts back of us with 3 gms in hand for 6th pick 6th pick or the Lotto 1st is the best we can do
VegasCanuck
We're into 8th pick and going on a road trip where they won't win a single game if they continue the way they are playing right now! Top 5, here we come!!!!

spur1
With a Kesler trade at the draft we might even get 2 high picks.
thad
With a Kesler trade at the draft we might even get 2 high picks. I doubt it. Best you'll get is a late first unless he goes to Detroit but even then it's probably 10-14. If we trade him we need a young future star coming back. Interested in what the deal with that Kempe is? Must have huge untapped potential for him to put him that high with 11 points in 45 games. Granted it's a kid playing pro but still. I wonder if we get another pick in a draft day deal if he'll still be around? Getting dal Colle or someone at 1-6 and stealing Kempe later would be amazing if he's as good as button thinks. I seen him ranked way lower on other lists.
