This a game 7 i want to watch. I'll be in Ohio at the time. Anybody know how I can watch?

Do they still have Slingbox? WHL streams as well don't they? If you're asking about illegal streams you're doing it in the wrong place.

^ I would push a lot harder for that 1st overall pick

In hindsight knowing how well Ekblad has played, 100% agree. But considering we were reportedly looking to take Reinhart who hasn't had an amazing year either I'm not sure we didn't luck out when Florida rejected our offer (which was reported as 6th+24th+Tanev+Shinkaruk). That would've decimated our pipeline for a good-but-not-elite prospect.

As thrilled as I am to be seeing guys like McCann and Cassels racking up the goals and points compared to Virtanen but if I were GM and could do last year' s draft all over again, I would pick Jake in a heartbeat.

as a canucks fan i pray that he'll pan out, but i still can't swallow that we didn't pick up the BPA offensive wise with our 6th overall. . We needed (and still need) so much speed and skill... IMO, Nikolaj Ehlers was the perfect fit and i was sad that we let fly away.

Ehlers stats :

2014-15 stats_arrow.gif Halifax Mooseheads A.png stats_arrow.gif QMJHL 51 37 63 100 67 26 | stats_arrow.gif Playoffs 5 1 11 12 4 0

Virtanen seems to be a good kid tho, i wish the best for him (and obviously the best for him will translate by the best for us...)

If you take Ehlers with #6, you're still not taking pure offensive BPA...

Nylander > Ehlers

You wanted a player with Skill. Guess what, Benning got that too.

His name is Sven Baertschi and he's going to be in the NHL next year.

Ehlers > Nylander

Is this an Ehlers vs. Nylander debate thread? No. But for those who are still confused as to which smallish one-dimensional power play specialist is better, it is actually Nylander. While Nylander looks like a girl and his helmet is way too small, he dives less and doesn't look like he just walked out of a concentration camp. I hope this settles things. However, other similar ability and style 2014 draftees that weren't selected by Canadian teams, Fiala, Vrana, Larkin, Milano, Fabbri, Kapanen, Pastrnak, and Goldobin may all turn out to be better NHLers.

Oh yes, and like person before me said, Baertschi will likely end up better as well.

^^^ you forgot to lul.

Anyone remember the good ole days when entering into the prospects forum wasn't a complete waste of brain cells and time?

I remember when people added something of worth pertaining to the prospect in question, but then again I also remember people upselling Patrick White. Useless.

Maybe it's just that I'm old enough that there aren't many brain cells left to waste and time isn't as valuable as it used to be, but I find the prospects forum a decent source of info. The Comets thread for instance often has material about the Comets' games and players which I find interesting and informative. Similarly, looking in the threads for each prospect is quicker than looking for news sources on each one of them, even though it involves skimming quantities of less informative material.

Right, but this sub forum used to not have so many.. "undesirables" posting in it.

The difference is that we've added a lot of young talent in a short period of time.

4 first round picks in 2 years compared to 2 first round picks in the 3 years before that.

Even in those 3 years we only were able to select after 25.

So there wasn't much to get excited about or worth talking about for average to bandwagon fans

Game 7's are a good way to judge the character of a player. I just found out its going to game 7 here. Anyone know what the scores were in the past 2 games? Any idea where one could watch game 7 as well. I think Virt will be far more noticable in the big game 7.

I apologize for not being able to watch every Comets and Hitmen game that comes on, there are a small numbers of posters that do on here (and some even go out of their way to make game recaps of individuals) so I think it's safe to trust them. It's the most I can do as a fan. I'd love nothing more for Virtanen to impress, and have people raving about his impact on the ice game after game but he hasn't and they aren't. That's what it comes down to at the end of the day.

But I do assume you with your impressive moral compass actually HAVE been watching each and every game of Virtanen's, so please do enlighten me as to how the kid's looked. Because obviously he's stood out to you in a good way.

The issue is.

Basing what people are posting to be factual and not opinionated at all and then basing a childs entire future on said reports is...

Well for lack of a better word stupid.

And that is exactly what some people here are doing the last 4 or 5 pages. They are looking at one or two peoples posts taking their first hand opinion and then running with it and then we end up with posts like Virtanen isn't as good as Ehlers/Nylander never will be and we'll be lucky if he's a middle 6 player.

All of that over an opinion that will somehow reflect on or dictate what a child, (he's barely 18) will do with his entire career.

Not knocking you please don't think I am. Just answering that. Some people DO in fact watch him and do amazing jobs putting things together. but those same people also go in to detail about what they think the issue is in regards to ice time coaching and coaching systems. Which never make it into the naysayers comments.

I will wait until the kid is 26 has 4 or 5 seasons in a Nucks uniform under his belt and has done less than squat before I label him the best so many are predicting over the last 10 pages or so.

don't know how jake will pan out. but as a canucks fan, i'm hoping obviously for the best. 6th pick is a high pick. and it's debatable whether virtanen was the best available player during that time of selection. if he doesn't pan out. probably a waste of a pick. BUT if he does...well, it's a high risk, high reward kind of scenario.

i'm excited to see what he does at prospects camp as well as main camp. if he's ready, he'll stay. if not, then back to junior to continue to develop.

he'll need to be good defensively, though, to make the NHL. if he doesn't show that, then it's back to junior for him.
