Tangelos
Stevie Y is up to something. Yes! Not a cap team so just dumping players to meet the internal cap

Dion Phaneuf
Arizona played it smart and got Gagner for (almost) free. Gagner could simply just need a change of scenery like his buddy Cogs who is doing well in Anaheim. Tampa Bay retained cap but still has enough to work some magic in July. Edmonton as always is the big loser. Took on Purcell who likely won't do much on an already soft Oilers team. I'm biased though so don't take my opinion on Purcell too seriously. I think he's a decent player but he needs to be in a top 6 role. He's soft too...don't think he is a fit in Edmonton.

Kruger
What are you talking about? Boyle is New York Islander property right now I believe. He's not singing with them so he's going to be a UFA. It's reported that Boyle wants around $5 mil per. This could have been Tampa clearing cap space so they could sign Boyle. Islanders traded a 5th round pick for Boyle's rights. Warhippy
Anyone else find it weird that some of the favourite players to watch growing up, are turning into the best management types in the NHL? Sakic Linden Yzerman.. Shade early yet to throw Linden in the mix Same with Yzerman and Sakic. Gonna wait 5 years before passing judgement on any of them because they've all basically been handed a team and haven't really done anything to make their marks yet

tas
that's gotta be a blow to the old self esteem for gagner, and to a lesser extent purcell.

DeltaSwede
What a deal for Arizona (sounds so wrong) in respect to what they had to give up. Opens up some space for Tampa to go after a player like Boyle. What a rough day for Sam Gagner though..

Mackcanuck
So TB trades Purcell to EDM for Gagne with the intent to buy out Gagne Buyout rules Younger than age 26 at the time of buyout, 1/3 the remaining value Age 26 or older at the time of the buyout, 2/3 the remaining value Gagne is 24 and Purcell is 27(Purcell would have cost 2/3 salary) TB flips Gagne to ARZ and pays 1/3 of his salary(same as buyout) but also dumps Cronbeens salary and gets a late draft pick Smooth moves by Stevie Y,

Master Mind
Awful trade for TB. Doesn't matter if they plan on signing some big name FA's, they should've gotten a better return. Sideways move for Oilers. Purcell helps them on the wing, but their biggest weakness is defence. Coyotes with a great deal. Gagner (and not even at full salary) for just a 6th. Unbelievable. Yzerman is a smart man, although I think he probably could have gotten more than a 6 round pick.
